Why no "fun" political movies?

Correct me if I'm wrong but how come there's no fun political movies? Movies that poke fun at both political sides. While sure there have been numerous attempts at political humor all at the expense of course of one particular political party. I was thinking something along the lines that equally pokes fun at all political sides or is Hollywood still too "idealistic" to acknowledge all parties?

I haven't seen 'Man of the Year' yet, but I thought it looked like it poked fun at both sides.

Because politics isn't funny and much less in movies.

The only ones that work are ones where it's an outsider vs. the Washington "system" and the last succesful movies of that type I remember are The American President and Dave and neither was really that political.

Tanner '88.

Of course, Tanner was a good-guy liberal.

I thought Thank You For Smoking was quite fun. While it didn't specifically skewer the two parties, many sides were made fun of equally: the government, lobbyists, "Big Tobacco" (or "Big (insert industry name here)", really), the media, Hollywood.

...those that want to intervene and spread democracy in the Middle East?*

*Admittedly, it's been a while since I've seen it.

Because with the current state of politics in the USA, we hate each other soooo much for not having the same "correct" beliefs as I/me/we/us. If it skewers OUR guy, that's NOT funny. But, hey, if it gets THAT OTHER guy, we ROFL.

Yeah, I guess Thank You for Smoking might be a good example. I was looking for something that made an honest effort that equally parodied both sides.

I've never heard of the Whoops Apocalypse movie..hmm...

I agree that there aren't many "fun" political movies that make fun of both sides in American politics. The only ones that I can ever recall seeing are Team America and Dave (as has been mentioned above), and also My Fellow Americans...

'Man of the Year' was decent.. Not an outwright comedy it could have been but Robin Williams was pretty funny in it.

It mocked "conservative" ideas, like the people who would celebrate blowing up the Louvre to stop one terrorist. It pretty much mocks everyone for being partisan.
