Twin Peaks - Season 2 Best Price

After doing some price seraching here's what comes up:

Amazon.com: 36.99 (inc. shipping)
Circuit City & Target: 39.99
Best Buy 44.99 (not listed in Speedy's ad)
Other web sites 40.00 approx.
Deep Discount Not even close

Wild card of course is Costco. Their price could be anywhere from 34.99 to 39.99. Even it it's on the low end, at best the Costco price will match Amazon when you figure in the tax & gas.

So if anyone has any better deals, please post. Been waiting for this title a long time.

I ordered it from amazon, this is not a release that will be discounted much (if at all) at any store.

$40.96 (after shipping) @ columbia house but if you wait for a B1G1F code then you'll get a free dvd for an extra $1.99 shipping cost.

I'm tempted to buy this today from amazon, as my free Prime trial expires in a couple days.

But I wonder if this will have an exclusive bonus at any retailer?

If they even carry it, you mean. I don't remember them carrying s1, but I could be wrong. Then again, this is a Paramount release, so who knows?

Nevermind.

Just got off the phone with my Costco. I asked if they had it, and after checking the computer, she said it was "in stock". I asked her how much it was and she said it was "about $35". Don't know why she said that instead of $34.99 or $35.99, but I took it to mean it'll be $34.99.

They DID carry S1. I got one for me and one for my brother for Christmas there for cheaper than it seemed to be anywhere else online or B&M.

Got mine at Amazon since I had some GCs to spend.

Ah. I don't remember that far back. What was it, like, 31 years ago?

I can confirm Costco did have Season 1 for $39.99. The set was released on 12/18/01
and I received it as a christmas gift that year. This time I will have to break the bank for Season 2.

Why are DDD's prices so lackluster these days? Or is it just me? It used to be no competition... It'd just head on over to DDD and get what I was looking for, and now... Not so much. I think I'm going to have to wait a little longer and get this when it becomes a little cheaper.

You'll have to wait until it has been released. DDD will then lower their price to match the price at Amazon. DDD had a pre-order price of $43.xx for The Shield Season 5. They now have it for $39.89 because Amazon is selling it for $39.99. Twin Peaks is going for $36.99 at Amazon, so I would imagine that DDD will drop it from $41.14 to around $36.89 on Tuesday.

Then comes the 20% off sale... It's happened in April before.

... But, then again, it's happend as late as June.

... And, again, they do sometimes boost regular prices during the sale.

It sometimes snows in April, but I cannot recall a 20% off sale ever in April.

FYI I was at Target this morning when they opened. They had exactly 4 sets of Twin Peaks Season 2 @ 39.99 The local Walmarts had NONE, not sure about Best Buy but they did not advertise it in their weekly sales flyers..IMO I would not hesitate to purchase this set! There was even one person buying season 2 and they asked the Target employee if they had season 1!

My local Walmart did not have any either, but the Sam's Club located right next door had plenty in stock for $37.36, so I snagged one there. Oddly, when I tried to check out, the set would not ring up. Every time the cashier scanned it an error message flashed that the set could not be sold yet. A manager came over and did something to override the system and I was able to complete the transaction.

Wow, just shocking that not everyone follows DVD releases so closely. I can't believe that's looked at as stupidity on the part of the customer. How is the average person supposed to know it is out of print?

I know it's sad, but when I saw the comment I had to check amazon myself :P Although I was never really interested in the series, and only recently (like last couple years) really started following dvd's. But I felt a little shame all the same.
