The "PulpNoir" of Charlie Huston
Hey, I've got another author to shout about. I'm really digging this guy's stuff. He started out in hardcover (Caught Stealing), and since then he's released four trade paperbacks. That first novel was pretty straightforward noir, with a nice splash of humor. Great style. He followed it up with a sequel called Six Bad Things, and the beginning of a new noir trilogy called A Dangerous Man.
Then, Huston started delving in a very interesting way into cross-genre "vampire/detective" novels, starting with Already Dead and continuing to No Dominion, which just came out. He also wrote a comic series called MoonKnight, now collected in hardcover.
Here's his PulpNoir web site. I particularly enjoyed his book cover gallery, in which he comments on and criticizes the various covers of his books. Hilarious stuff.
Check him out!
