DeepDiscount's free shipping time span.
I know that this has been spoken of before in previous posts but I was curious as to how long it takes for one to receive one's package when utilizing their "free-shipping" ie: media mail/bulk rate from DeepDiscount.com.
(Especially since the inception of their new webpage/name etc.)
I'll start the process by mentioning where I live and how long it took to get my dvd in hand. With the old DeepDiscountDvd.com it used to take as little as 7-11 days to get my DVD in hand.
A March 9th shipped date arrived in hand on March 22, 2007. That's 14 days.
Location: Bennington, VT.

I've received packages in as little as 3 days to as much as 3 weeks, normally around 7-10 days. I think there's a trend where the larger the package the quicker it arrives. In other words, the packages that have taken up to 3 weeks have only had 1 dvd in them, but larger packages which a bunch of discs in them have sometimes come in under a week.

My DeepDiscount orders span anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks.
Generally, DVD orders arrive much faster for me than CD orders.
Location: Northwest Indiana, about 1 and a 1/2 hours from Chicago.

It takes two weeks no matter what I order for packages to arrive in Los Angeles. One time I paid for their regular shipping, and it still took two weeks, so I never paid for shipping again.
I order 95% of my DVD's from them, but I never order from them if I'm in a hurry.

It used to be a week to a 10 days.
I've placed two orders since they changed. One shipped 3/5 never arrived. Reshipped today. This is the first time I've had an order from them that didn't get here at all.
The second one shipped March 21 and also hasn't arrived but I'm not counting it out yet.

Most my Deep Discount orders take at least 10 days to sometimes 21 days to arrive.
If I place a huge Deep Discount order or for several box sets / tv seasons I can sometimes get my order as quick as 3 - 7 days.
DVD Planet orders take 14+ days to get to me.
Best free shipping for me to the Houston TX area is Amazon, usually I get my orders in less than 7 days & have the tracking number as well.

Most recent order was on March 13, received March 26
last order before that was March 2, received March 19.
Before the site merge, used to take 3-4 weeks.
California.

Got my Kino order yesterday. Ordered on March 15th. So, not that bad on shipping. Unfortunately one of my discs in the Film Noir boxset was not properly in the case and looks like it was mauled by a tiger.

I live just one state over from their shipping office and it usually takes 3-5 days, but in one case it took 3 weeks.
You can always opt for "Expedited Delivery" for $5.95 which could be USPS Priority Mail, USPS First Class or UPS Ground.
Other options include 2nd-day air for $9.95 or next day for !5.95.
The catch is that ONLY the first shipment in a multiple order ships for the above rate, the rest of the shipments go standard rate (Media Mail).
So, take your chances!

USPS Media Mail can be very quirky. On a recent order from DVDPlanet, all but one title was shipped out within a day, and the backordered item shipped ot 4 days later - all Media Mail. The backordered item arrived first (taking 5 days) and the earlier shipment took 12 days.
I've learned to take a deep breath and wait for it to all sort itself out, which it almost always does.

Surprisingly, I just received an order on the 6th business day after it was shipped and I am in Caifornia. Based on past experiences with DDD, I had learned to not expect delivery anytime soon and so and I had actually put the order out of my mind. It came as a pleasant surprise to receive it so quickly.
Coincindentally, I received an email the same day requesting that I inform them of the actual delivery date. Perhaps with the site revamping, they are also trying to retool their delivery methods?

It's usually a full 10 business days (in California)- the estimated date on the shipping email is pretty accurate. During the last 20% off sale I had a couple packages come within the week, but once the sale was done it went back to normal.

My most recent order, placed on March 2nd, finally arrived on April 3rd. I've had some arrive sooner, and some later...but I'm in Hawaii, so not being one of the 48 contiguous states evidently makes things take longer. I may opt for the faster shipping next time.

I've noticed a huge slowdown in delivery times with DDD lately. I used to get orders within days of being shipped and now it takes anywhere from 3-4 weeks to get them.
