Forrest Gump sequel? Is that even a good idea?
Searched, didn't see this anywhere here.
Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies. I wasn't aware that the author (Winston Groom) of the novel it's based on wrote a sequel, Gump & Co, in 1997.
The author and Paramount had a falling out resulting in a lawsuit over the royalties for Gump. As a result, the sequel was never made into a movie.
A couple of weeks ago, it was leaked (from a presumably reliable source) that the differences had been resolved and that the producers were revisiting a draft script that had been written back in 2001. What do you think? Should they actually make this? I thought the first one left off at a perfect spot, not sure why you'd want to spoil it, maybe it's just me. It's very early, but in sequel-mad Hollywood, I could definitely see this happening.

It's very early, but in sequel-mad Hollywood, I could definitely see this happening.
I like FG, and I like the first one as it is w/o a sequel. At this point I wouldn't want a sequel unless it was VERY VERY good and all the original players are back.

they shouldn't make a sequel. Forrest Gump is one of the greatest movies of all time & is one of the few movies that you can watch over & over again without getting tired of it.
Even if Tom Hanks (one of my favorite actors of all-time) was in this it would be hard to top the first. Some things should be left alone, this is that movie.
So many great movies have a bad reputation for there shitty sequels.
If it does happen i will see it & hope it can top the first one but i highly doubt it.

Forrest Gump is just a silly movie in itself. I think it would be fun to see an older Forrest have his hand in major events during the 80's, 90's and 2000's. I read a bit where there was a part where he meets Tom Hanks. That's kinda ridiculous but so is Forrest Gump.

What about all those "Flowers in the Attic" books churned out after the author had died? What about all those Dune books? 3001? Star Trek novels? If anything, authors and publishing houses are much more eager to rape the corpse of an idea than Hollywood is.

I'd be interested to see how they handled certain parts of it. As mentioned, he meets Tom Hanks but the most interesting thing would be that Jenny never died in the first book so she's part of the second one (until shes killed since she did die in the movie).
Overall, it was ho-hum but I enjoyed certain parts of the book. His meeting with North, his soda formula, the Saints.

I remember when the book came out and hearing in an interview from Tom Hanks he would have no interest in doing a sequel.
