I think this was the list I was looking for many months ago. Thanks for posting.

I'll have to take a closer look later and actually post the ones I've read.

I've read Batman Arkham Asylum and that's it. I'm suprised Death in the Family is not on the list. Although, maybe I shouldn't be since I've only read 1 of 100.

The recent trend of superhero movies as tweaked my interest in comics. I've been meaning to pick up some graphic novels now that I have more time to read...guess this is a good list to pick a few from.

#96 The Complete Concrete
#90 American Flagg Vol. #1: Hard Times
#80 Crisis On Infinite Earths
#77 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Collected Book Vol. #1
#76 Batman: The Long Halloween
#67 Daredevil: The Man Without Fear
#64 X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills

#10 X-Men: Dark Phoenix Saga
#8 Marvels
#7 Daredevil: Born Again
#6 Batman: Year One
#3 Batman: Dark Knight Returns
#2 Watchmen
#1 Maus: A Survivor's Tale

I read most of the above in their original comic book form. (Can't believe I'm old enough to have picked up the B&W Turtle issues when they hit the shelves. Yikes.)

Nice to see American Flagg! and Concrete on the list.

Scratching my head at the omission of Elfquest though. Those books were the first trades I ever read and Elfquest was, IMO, one of the greatest indie titles ever.

The absence of Promethea casts doubt on the authoritativeness of the list IMO.

I guess I own most of them, but sadly, the bolded ones are the only ones I know I've read. Some of the rest may just be slipping my spotty memory.

Concrete should be much higher up on the list.

Damn Maus is over rated. Maybe cause I had to read it in college, lol. Or the fact non comic readers like to point to this as some great comic work, refer to it as a "graphic novel", but never be caught dead reading a traditional floppy. Whew, end rant.

I never got around to reading Bone. The complete series can be had for $25 on Amazon. Safe blind buy? I'll probably get it regardless, but figured it was worth asking.

I've read maybe 10-15 of those, some in their original runs. Pretty good list.

I am so glad it didn't.

Lots of good stuff to pick from in the list, although a bit too superhero heavy of course. I'd recommend almost anything by Alan Moore or Frank Miller. Concrete and Bone are great. Sandman may be the best ever.

It was a one-shot, not sure if it really counts as a graphic novel.

But in reality, maybe they just had to pick and choose which Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman books to put in the list. Because seriously, you'd have to have at least 50 or so of the top 100 just from those two talents. They just choose representations, one of the Swamp Thing books, one of the Sandmans, etc.

It is missing. As are From Hell, Starchild: Awakenings, The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, and Signal to Noise.

I've only read 11 of those. Honestly, I don't see why The Red Star is in there at all. It's not that good.

I also think The Killing Joke should be in there and Gotham by Gaslight or its sequel is much, much better than Red Rain.

List fails for lack of inclusion of Y: The Last Man.

We're not supposed to use "report bad post" to get this moved to the right forum, right?

I'm surprised there's only one Sandman. Particularly since the one that was listed (Season Of The Mist) was ranked #4. That may have been the best book of the run. But many of the others were just as good.

I also would have liked to see Enigma make the list. And maybe Frank Miller's Ronin.
