Join us for a night of Irish beer--600 years in the making!

You and your friends will experience Ireland's most famous beers, up close and by the pint.

Guinness® Legacy invites you to get even closer to the legendary heritage and taste of GUINNESS® Draught, HARP® Lager and SMITHWICK'S TM Ale. Enjoy a world class pint and explore authentic pub culture. Best of all, this exclusive, private event for Legacy brand devotees is complimentary.

Your password is: BARLEY. You will need this password to enter the site and for future access.

I plan to attend the event at The Gaf in KC. Hope to see some of you there.

There's a pub right in the heart of Bloomington doing this on 3/28. What's the deal - is this free beer or what?

I attended one two weeks ago in St Louis and it was great! They had little tasting glasses, but they also had pints and pitchers of Guiness, Harp and Smithwicks, and they just kept bringing 'em out. And yes, kenbuzz, it was all free. Slainte!

So, am I the only DVDTalker with one of these events happening just 3 miles from his front door?

Wow.

None in Cleveland, either.

Can the people who find events please post where the events will be located? I wish there was a way to see a master listing, as I might plan a weekend around this. Great excuse to visit a neighboring city- maybe within 3 hours drive.

For the sake of historical record, the event I attended was at Growler's Pub on Lindburgh in St Louis. In addition to the free beer ther's also some swag: free Guniess/Harp/Smithwick's lanyards and you get to keep one of the three mini-pint glasses that you use in the beer "tasting" portion of the presentation (you drink out of real pint glasses in the drinking portion). You listen to a brief history of Guiness, participate in a Guiness history quiz and drink (free) beer. Great way to spend an evening!

Doc: How much time should we budget for this? We've got a sitter lined up for our Kindergartner, but it's a school night and we want to give the sitter's folks a guess as to when we'll get her home.

buzz:

I'd say about 90-120 minutes. Our event started at 7:00. We got there at 6:55 and it was pretty full. Presentation and tasting lasted about 30 minutes and they cut off the free beer at 8:00. So I would recommend getting there about 30 minutes before start time (because they were already giving away free beer, ale and stout before start time) and plan to stay for about 2 hours.

If I were to attend a second event, I start a drinking game: have a drink everytime they say "Drink responsibly" (you'll appreciate this more after the event).

Have fun and be sure to report back!

Doc: Thanks for the gouge. We had planned to pick up the sitter at 6:30 and get to the pub a skosh before 7. I'll call her folks today to see if we can move things up 30 minutes. She'll appreciate the extra cash, and we'll get extra beer. Win-win.

Do they pour it correctly? If not, it's not worth it. Even for free.

Yep. Its poured correctly. Just got back from the Gaf. I am starting to lose the buzz so I am going to have to start on the boulevard irish ale in the fridge.

Yes. As a matter of fact, a Guiness pouring spoon was one of the door prizes.

Nothing in the Boston area. But don't worry, it's not a big Irish town.....

The event last week very nice. Got a free pint of the Guinness product of our choice, entered our name in the hat for a door prize (there were about 50 guests there, and they gave away a dozen prizes), and enjoyed an hour and a half of discussion about Guinness, Smithwick, and Harp. Got samples of all three, maybe just under a pint in total, on top of the free pint and the pint I bought during a dry period.

They talked about how the beer was made, shipped, stored, tapped, poured, etc. I learned a lot about Guinness that I didn't know, and yes, I learned how to pour it correctly. :)

I won a lanyard and a ballcap, and another patron gave me the lanyard he didn't care for. They also had bottle openers, t-shirts, duffel bags, and other door prizes. Also, we did NOT get to keep the sampling glasses... instead, we turned them back in for our very own 20oz Guinness logo tulip-shaped pint glass. Yeah, a 20oz "pint".

Oh, and the guys running the event said that Bloomington was the last stop on their tour. Sorry gang -- it ended here.
