I know that I will be in the very small minority, but I am looking forward to seeing Peter Noone. I've been a fan of his for a long time, and even though none of the contestants will probably know who he is, I'll be watching just for him.

I couldn't care less about Lulu.

One of my cats is named Lulu!

I've always liked Peter Noone too. And yes, I also doubt any of the contestants have the foggiest idea who he is.

Will anybody do any Beatles? Are they part of the Idol song lists?

Isn't there supposed to be a Beatles week? Please don't tell me they did this instead.

They can't get the rights to Beatles songs, so don't get your hopes up.

I've met Peter Noone. He's very affable, and Herman's Hermits put out a lot of good pop hits, but none of their songs are exactly a strain for singers. Really, that's true of most "British invasion" music. So, if anything, this week will be a boost for the weaker singers.

They've done Beatles songs before, most recently with Taylor.

Also, I've read the complete opposite that this is the first year they WERE able to get Beatles rights for enough to field a whole theme show.

"Yesterday" was a special case as the rights holders were different than the rest of the catalog.

I hadn't read that, so I'll concede that it could be happening. I just know that Beatles rights have been a problem in the past.

It was "Something," rather than "Yesterday".

I don't believe any other beatles songs have ever been on the show, but, I could be wrong.

The problem is that you can only vote for contestants, not against them.
If you could dial in for the person you would like to kick off, rather than the person you wanted to keep, then Sanjaya would have been gone a few weeks ago. But, even if 80% of the viewers hate him, if 20% love him and vote for him as a joke, he's likely to get more votes than another contestant that no one cares about much either way (i.e., Brandon).
In order to achieve a single vote against sanjaya, one would effectively have to cast a vote for each of the other contestants at the bottom of the pack...which makes it hard to keep up with the people that just want to vote for sanjaya.

Sounds like a good theme ... enough variety so everyone will have a fair shot at picking a good song for them. I'm looking forward to seeing the contestants pretend to be big fans of Peter Noone and Lulu when they have no idea who they are. I'm praying for a goof like someone saying to Noone: I really love your song "Happy Together". Something like that will guarantee non-stop votes from me (even if its Sanjaya). I'm also crossing my fingers for someone to do The Who's My Generation ... complete with stuttering and breaking equipment at the end. Sucks that Sundance is gone - he's crazy enough to do that.

Although the performances are still almost 7 hours away here...I still have to vote for Sanjaya because he's overstayed his welcome way too long!

I cringed when I first heard the theme was the British invasion. But so far, it's two for two great performance by Haley and Chris. Looking forward to the rest now. Even Vanjaya.

I am surprised Simon was willing to overlook Chris Richardson's nasal voice so easily. Chris' best performance is still among the weakest overall, IMO.

Lakisha looked and sounded terrible. And so did Nosferatu.
