As a friend said, even if it's not confirmed yet, the quote by Grint is kind of damning. Perhaps she'll break if they up her offer, but who knows.

Just a guess though. You do realize you have the option of not clicking on a thread if you feel the subject matter is not to your taste, right?

Yeah, I think it's really disappointing, too. While not ga-ga over the films or books, I did find them very enjoyable. When the movies started, I thought it was highly improbable that the young stars would actually complete the series, but that was because I thought they might grow too old to be believable for the roles, not because the youngest one would walk. After all, when you're only 16 and have your entire future ahead of you (if you're not already typecast after five films as the same character, how's two more going to hurt?) and you're being offered a fortune to make the films (maybe more money than you'll ever make professionally again for any role), it seems presumptuous to skip out on the series that has made you a household name. If Daniel Radcliffe can drop his trousers onstage in Equus & still show up to play Harry Potter, I don't see the problem for her to finish the series & still go on to other roles. Actually, I think it is easier in some ways for the girls than the guys, since they take on an entirely different persona when they physically mature. And, unless Miss Watson has done an awful lot of changing since the last film, she still looks like a young girl, so it seems that her choice of roles would be limited.
It is her life & her decision, but it makes her seem a little diva-like to refuse the last two films now. I'm sure that the association with the franchise gets tiring...but then, most of us have to work at the same career for decades at a time, while she's only been doing this for 4-5 years...although that probably feels like a lifetime to a teenager. I guess when you're a star, it's easy to forget how many people never get the opportunity to be in that position. While she may not need the money, she might find that her adoring public might harbor some ill-will toward her for 'abandoning' them. Personally, I wish her well in her future career...but still think that this move is ill-advised (if she were in her mid-twenties, I might understand it better).

Not good news. Will the Franchise survive her leaving? Yes. But it's still sad.
I hope she can move on with her career and do well.

Well, they did recast Dumbledore (I know Harris passed away, necessitating the recasting, but still), so the show must go on, even if Emma isn't going to sign on for these last 2 films in the franchise.

Who knows, it may be more her managers and others egging her on.

I hope this doesn't happen. I would have thought they had these kids on lock for early on, but I guess not. I think she is great in the role and the movie would suffer without her. Bad, bad, bad news.

I truly hope she stays...it'd be special for this film franchise to have all of the actors continue w/ their roles for the duration (obviously except for Harris).

Here's the thing, Emma. If you're typecast, the damage is already done. Might as well take your guaranteed 4M+ payday and not piss off every fan you've gained along the way. Trust me, if Radcliffe and Grint can find work outside of Potter and Weasley, you sure as hell can too.
She'll be back.

Subject header would be a bit more informative if it had "Harry Potter" in there.
Anyway, she'll be easy to replace. Lindsay Lohan put on a good English accent in The Parent Trap AND she's played Hermione before. Stick her in.

Actually the word "rumor" should be put in the title. The source of this is apparently some sketchy British tabloid. It hasn't been confirmed either way.
