Lonely Hearts -- Travolta, Gandolfini, Hayek and Leto

The trailer for this upcoming movie is up on the Apple trailers website.

Interested in seeing this even with Leto as one of the leads but then again, I watch any movie that Salma is on.

I'm happy to see Jared Leto getting some good roles. After seeing him in Requiem Of A Dream in 2001, I knew he was a good actor deserving of more. (I suppose his successful stint as lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars didn't hurt his chances of major screen time.)

I saw Lonely Hearts at the Savannah Film Festival last year.

If the film had been released later in the year, Salma Hayek would be up for another Oscar like *snap*.

Anyone know what happened with this movie? We rented it and thought it was ok(6/10), but it seems based on IMDB and also my own recollection that it was never actually released in the theater. It seems odd that a movie with so many people in it would just disappear like that, especially considering I would be hard pressed to call it a stinker. Travolta's name alone would have brought in the marketing budget to wide release it I would think.

Well, since IMDB was not definitive as to how wide a release it got I checked Box Office Mojo (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...nelyhearts.htm) and apparently your theater was 1 of 24 that actually got it and the movie only made 1.820 million worldwide.

Still no closer to the truth though

Yes, both Hayek and Leto were terrific in this. On the other hand, Travolta was the worst he's been in years.

I watched this on Dvd recently, as I live in Region 2 land. As someone else said, I'd give it about 6 out of 10. It was well enough acted by everyone involved, but concentrated on the cops doing the chasing instead of the villains of the piece.

I suppose this was different from the norm, but IMHO it also meant that the villains weren't really fleshed out enough.

Not bad.
