Criterion Collection OOP Question???
I recently placed an order for a few dvds at DVDPlanet. One was Ugetsu and I received an e-mail saying it was out of stock. When I called to see if I could have it shipped after re-stock, they said it was out of print and would not be re-stocked. I looked online and it definitely says 'Temp. Out of Stock' so I don't know who to believe. It also says this about Rashomon, Testament of Dr. Mabuse, and others, I'm sure. Did this woman from DVDPlanet just not know what she was talking about, or is Criterion putting some of these OOP?? Has anyone else had this problem?

I've seen absolutely no indication of Ugetsu going OOP -- I'd suggest trying DeepDiscount (they have a 40% off CC's sale going on until midnight today if you see this before then), Amazon, etc...

I don't think any of these are going OOP and the lady at DVDPlanet was just misinformed.

Email Jonathan Turell ([email protected]). He will most likely answer the question or direct it to someone like Kim Hendrickson. I would consider DVDPlanet's information to be dubious.

Criterion's site is messed up - didn't they used to have a "Collection" section where you could see all the titles in a spreadsheet including the spine numbers and OOP status if a title was OOP? Maybe my browser is goofed.

Also, I'm not sure what DVDPlanet's deal is, but Ugetsu is NOT OOP. I ordered it from there too and got the same "discontinued" email. But Amazon still has it in stock, and I just ordered it from Buy.com last week and received it yesterday.

They are in the process of switching their page over from criterionco.com to just plain criterion.com. I think that's why there are some problems on their page.
