Why Does Sandra Bullock Still Have A Movie Career?

She still gets paid the big bucks and she hasnt made anything worth shit since the 70s (feels that long).

She's not much of an actress to boot and now she's in her 40s, so 'cute' is out the window.

My wife is more worthy of a movie career and she's in finance!

Women like her - she was cute in "Speed" and pretty hot in "Miss Congeniality" but I've never found her terribly attractive or talented.

My wife, however, likes her. "While You Were Sleeping" is one of her favorite movies.

She was in CRASH. Best Picture last year. Seems like she's still got a career.

She has been on an "indie" kick recently. Her films still bring in $$$. That's why she still has a career.

Although I like her as a person, I don't care for her much as an actress. I doubt this film will do more than 35-40M when all is said and done. The reviews are terrible. Most of her movies gross around 50M. Have no idea what they pull on video, probably more. And her Lifetime ratings must be through the roof (heh heh). So she might be making movies until they stop making any dough.

I guess Hollywood doesn't share your opinion and is the reason the studios haven't hired your wife for any projects.

I ask the same thing everytime I see her. I saw a TV spot for her new movie, and it was actually explaining the plot - not a good sign.

I hear Bob Gunton and her still have a feud, hence this weekend's release of Dead Silence.

(Previously, he starred in the TV series "Numb3rs" just to one-up her movie Murder by Numb3rs).

I'm pretty sure Wesley Snipes won that award.

Why would they have a feud? Was it because she cussed him out in Demolition Man? She did get fined for it.

As for why she still has a career, it's because her movies open. She's been the poor man's(or woman's) Julia Roberts for a while now. Although personally I haven't gone to see anything of hers in the theater since A Time To Kill(unless you count The Prince of Egypt). Frankly her film choices since the mid-90's have been horrendous. Turning down Million Dollar Baby wasn't too smart either.

I've always had a thing for her and see most of her movies eventually, but I can't think of the last movie I saw of hers in the theater.

I just checked and it was Hope Floats.

I would understand this thread if Gwyneth Paltrow's name was in the title.

Miss Congeniality 2 made over 100 million worldwide and probably at least 30-40 million on DVD. Let's see your wife pull that off!

imo she can act (thought she was quite good in Infamous) but chooses to do flicks that appeal to housewives, hell they need movies too.

So when all is said and done, it doesn't matter, the movies aren't aimed toward me so I don't see them. That said, The Lake House was a fairly solid remake, and Premonition sounds interesting even though the reviews are atrocious (to be fair, it isn't completely bombing as numerous reviews have it around 2.5 out of 4, keeping it out of the same league as Catwoman, though tomatometer wise it's one of the lowest to date.) I like non-linear flicks though.

So to answer your question... bored housewives need some plain janes to look up to. I don't think she's pulling in as much money as she used to.

The problem i have with Bullock is the same problem i have with Ashley Judd.....all there movies seem to be exactly the same. I see the trailers for each new movie both actresses star in and i get deja-vu every damn time. I liked Speed and i liked Demolition Man.....but all Bullock does these days is star in relationship style movies and Judd stars in shitty thrillers.

They both need to fire their agents and try something different.

Infamous, Crash, Miss Congeniality 2, and Lake House all look exactly the same?

She actually prefers producing nowadays. I guess she's not too particular about her acting roles anymore.
