My First Triple-Dip

I just pre-ordered the R2UK version of The Quiet Family from hmv.co.uk. I already own both the R3K KM Media version AND the Tai Seng R1. I LOVE this film, and I'm keeping all three versions. The R2UK has a short film subtitled on it that is not subbed on the R3K and doesn't exist at all on the R1. This is the first time I've ever done this, I'm feeling more like a movie nerd than ever. Please tell me others out there have done this...

Sadly, you have a problem. ... then again, you're not alone.

Three trips for me:

Ghost in the Shell

R1 Standard (picked this up first)
R1 SE (upgrade)
R2 Japanese Standard (no particular reason but I did get it cheap)
R2 Japanese LE (collectibility)

I'm still trying to lock down the Japanese 'The Final Edition' release but it's been very difficult to obtain. I also might pick up the R4 Australian SE, the R2 UK and R3 Korean releases. That will complete my collection of eveyr release that I know of.

Innocence (Ghost in the Shell II)

R1 Dreamworks corrected copy
R2 Japanese LE - international edition with Gynoid statue [1000]
R2 Japanese LE - collector's box with a different Gynoid statue [1000]
R2 UK release with Japanese DTS soundtrack upgrade (on order)

The Incredibles

R1 CE
R2 Japanese LE [5000]
R3 Taiwan LE with a jack jack doll [3000]

I know xage on this forum has dipped to the Nth degree on Army of Darkness DVDs.

I personally have triple dipped on Shaolin Soccer. I bought the original HK DVD that had icons that popped up to access both extended scenes and FX making-ofs. I then bought the remastered HK DVD that just had pop-up icons for the extended scenes. I then bought the US R1 when it was eventually released.

The original Dracula and Frankenstein films. First, the Classic Monster Collection then the Monster Legacy Collection with the busts and the most recent 75th Anniversary Editions. I'll also buy the HD when Universal put those out.

Also The Game by David Fincher. The R1 Polygram release, the R4, the R2 Special Edition and the upcoming HD release. (not including the Digifreak release )

I used to have the Korean Ultimate Shaolin Soccer and the US disc (for the English Dub), but I sold the US disc and I am still planning on buying the UK disc for the English dub and subtitled extras that are missing on the US and KOR discs.

Evil Dead II: I bought the standard, then I bought the tin, then I bought the book.
Army of Darkness: I bought the single-disc Anchor Bay, then I bought the Bootleg, then I bought the Universal, then I bought the Boomstick, then I bought the MGM R3. I sold the single-disc Anchor Bay, Bootleg and Boomstick Editions. I want the original Anchor Bay 2-disc since that has the wonderful poster art.
The Big Lebowski: Sort of quadruple-dipped. I bought the original DVD, then sold it for the new one. Then I learned the new one had no trailer. I returned the new one, bought the Coen Brothers box set with it inside, and repurchased the old one, so I have both.

Looking at my shelf, I don't see anything else I've triple-dipped on.

Xage: Why do you have 2 copies of some of the DVD's that look to be the same edition, such as the Boomstick Edition of Army of Darkness?

According to his Evil Dead Collection link in his signature, the difference between his two Boomstick Edition copies is that one has a booklet while the other doesn't. That link also has explanations and pics for the differences between all the other apparent duplicates.

I think there's a few repeated shorts between Unseen Cinema, (More) Treasures of American Film Archives, and Kino's D.W. Griffith Biograph Shorts set.

I've double dipped Lawrence of Arabia (LE/Superbit), Amadeus (orig/DC), Universal Horror (8-disc set/all six Legacy sets), Gone with the Wind (orig/4D), The Wizard of Oz (WB SE/3-disc), Ben-Hur (orig/4D), Psycho (4x3/16x9 Masterpiece Set), The Blues Brothers (orig/SE), The Good the Bad and the Ugly (orig/DC), LOTR trilogy (2D/4D), Terminator 2 (UE/EE), Young Frankenstein (LBX/16x9), Casablanca (orig/2D), and 2001 A Space Odyssey (MGM/WB remastered).

However, when I move to HD, in terms of already-released and rumored/scheduled upcoming titles, I'll instantly triple dip on Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Psycho, The Blues Brothers, T2, Lawrence of Arabia, and the Universal horror films.
