Which nearest B&M store sells a decent selection of "no soliciting" signs, the kind i can put on my heavy white screen door, that no one can see in? Doesnt have to be to big in size either. Just enough to where it they think twice as they get closer to my parents front door. Been visiting my folks, and noticed lots of people, least 3 times a week knockin to either sell something, paint the numbers on the curb, or church people. Been happening to frequent. Thanks for any info.

Home Depot, Loews probably have them, I would think. Or you could look in the phone book for a sign store? There is one by a place I eat at but I have never bought anything there.

Some municipalities have soliciting laws, and "do not knock" lists. If you've got a sign up, they have to respect it. And if you're on the list, they can't knock.

You should check to see if any soliciting laws/knock lists exist where you live.

Just print one out and have it laminated, there's plenty of them on the intraweb.

There were not selling anything. Just trying to sell your soul from eternal damnation.

I got mine from Office Depot or Office Max. It was only about $5, maybe as high as $8. I can't recall as I bought it about a year ago.

That's not soliciting, unfortunately.

I guess you could put up a sign that says "I won't buy your stuff or your god". That might work.

In the hardware section of Wal-Mart there's a rack full signs like "No Hunting" and "Garage Sale", I imagine you could find it there.

You can get one from the Animal Shelter. But they don't call them "signs", they call them Dobermans. ;)

Wouldn't that be hard to tape to the door though?

Why bother? Solicitors just ignore them anyway. We have some at my condo complex. Get solicitors all the time.

The apartment complex I last lived at had several no soliciting signs, and people came anyway. At one point there must have been a large group b/c within a week we'd get 3-4 people, when there never were any before. As soon as I saw one next time I called the office and informed them of soliciters again, and they in turn called the police who took several people away. I don't think they were arrested, they just transported them off the property at the request of the rental/leasing office.

I still get them with my sign. I usually open the door, they start to speak. I smile, point at my sign and close the door.

One time, I pointed at the sign and the girl said "I'm not selling anything."

Then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to subscribe to any magazines for her "school" fund raiser.

"Oh I'm not here to sell you anything, I'd just like to show you this cool new __________!" Once I actually had this crackhead come to the door to show me this great new revolutionary cleaner of all things dirty. He walks over to my car and sprays it on, then wipes it off and ask me what I thought of it.

If it wouldn't be a huge hassle, I'd have responded with "Let's give Mr. Officer a call and ask him to define vandalism for you."

I had a girl try to sell me the cleaner stuff. She sprayed the cleaner on a concrete planter in my front yard before I could stop her. There was a nice clean spot where the moss had been. She couldn't leave fast enough when I started explaining the work and patience required to get the natural look by getting moss to grow where it doesn't want to.

Gee, it looks like there's a real market for these signs. They should sell them door to door.
