The ones I like are (of course) the caramel coconut things. However, I refuse to pay that much for a box of cookies that I know damn well I will eat in one sitting.

I believe the Samoas are actually called Caramel Delites now. I wonder if it was a political correctness thing. Either way, these cookies are phenomenal!

Yeah I looked on the site. Apparently they're called Samoas or Caramel deLites. The ABC versions are Caramel deLites. And the Samoas are made by Little Brownie Bakers. I could care less what they're called, I just want my order.

Samoa.

And, of course, Thin Mints. I'm certain both will adorn the house within the next week or two.

I remember our parents buying them when I was younger, but I never knew how much they cost. How much do Girl Scout Cookies cost per box?

I bought some a couple weeks ago and they were $3.50 a box. I bought 5 boxes of Caramel Delites and they were all gone within a week.

Thin Mints rule.

I won't eat Samoas because coconut is an abomination.

It wasn't that long ago that a box of GS cookies were only $2. For what you're getting, $3.50 per box is pretty expensive.

$3.50!? My neighbor quoted me $4/box. I'm gonna have to take the $3 difference out of her ass...

But they know people will pay it, and since it isn't everyday that you get to buy the cookies, they know you'll buy 5-10 boxes at a time.

Don't get medievil on her just yet, each council sets their own price :).

Our next door neighbor has a 6 year old who just started Girl Scouts this year. She is an adorable little girl who is bound to sell tons of cookies because she can sweet talk you into anything pretty much. Needless to say, I came home about a week ago and there were 8 boxes of Thin Mint sitting on the bar!!! My wife was bullied into it

Thin mints are pretty easy to make. Just melt some chocolate add a couple of drops of liquid mint and dip a Ritz cracker in the chocolate. You will not be able to tell the difference....

Funny story about that:

A few years ago I REALLY wanted some girl scout cookies. I am a huge fan of the Thin Mints and I know no girl scouts. Anyway, I ended up going on ebay and buying a case. I think it was 36 boxes and I got it for about $30 or something.

The goddamn thing lasted probably 8 months. They melted in the summer, froze back solid in the winter...and ended up just being stuck together.

Anyway...they were damn good. :)

Ours were $4 per box here in sunny/cloudy/sunny/cloudy/sunny (for the moment) CA.

We just finished selling and ours were $3.50 a box, up from $3 last year. This was the first price increase in 11 years for our council though.

I really appreciate all the people who buy them though. My daughter sold 306 boxes (she sold, not Mom and Dad) and will now get some money she can use toward summer camp and her troop sold over 2000 boxes and will get over $1000 which will fund the camps and stuff they have for the rest of the year. It really is a great program and helps a lot of girls.

Or you could eat a chocolate chip cookie and brush your teeth right after with mint toothpaste.

Rising costs bite into Girl Scout Cookie portions

08:42 PM CST on Thursday, January 22, 2009
By DAN X. McGRAW / The Dallas Morning News

If you seem to be tearing through those Girl Scout Thin Mints a little faster this year, you aren't imagining things.

Fewer cookies were packaged into Thin Mints, Do-si-dos and Tagalongs boxes this year, and the Lemon Chalet Crème cookies were resized to compensate for the rising cost of baking staples.

No changes were made to other cookies, according to the Girl Scouts of the USA...

This is what happens when you people put a democrat in the White House.
