Widescreen settings for Wii?

I'm confused by the 480p setting on the Wii. I just got an HDTV, and it has a setting to automatically detect what signal is being sent by a device and changing the aspect ratio accordingly. For example, when I switch the input to my SD TiVo, it's in 4:3. When I switch to my DVD player, it's in 16:9. However, I have my Wii set on 480p, but I have to manually switch the aspect ratio on my TV to 16:9 every time I turn on my Wii. Does anyone know why?

You need to use zoom feature on your TV. It has something to do about square vs. oblong pixels plus the Wii does not transmit a certain signal telling TV that its a widescreen image.

I asked about this early on in the Zelda thread. I will look and see if I can find it.

Well, that's annoying. They should really fix that in an update.
