NYCC '07 DC NATION PANEL - WWIII, Countdown, & Manhunter Continues!
Looks like some good stuff coming from DC, courtesy of Newsarama!
http://www.newsarama.com/NYCC/2007/DC/DCNation.html
Some highlights:
Didio then spoke about 52 and segued into talking about Countdown, noting that the 52 model of a weekly comic was working, which laid the groundwork for Countdown to come.
Dini said that in Countdown, Mary Marvel will go on her heroes journey and some of the connections she makes will be surprising.
Didio stopped the questions to note that they've had a change of heart on something - and turned it over to Wayne, who announced that DC will continue to publish Manhunter.
Question from a fan - Will there be something like 18 ties in issues with Countdown each month? : Didio: "Nah, you're confusing us with the other guys."
And some fun buttons!

(comparing the two big "event" comics, of course...)

There was one big bomb dropped about that teaser image that's been making the rounds:
Arrugh. They would finally introduce a story with Mary Marvel as a player, and it's another freaking weekly magazine. Guess I'll wait for the trades on that one.

I am so happy about Manhunter continuing. That news made the con for me. But the Mary Marvel news was close, as was the return of both Captain Carrot and Rocket Raccoon!
I took some pics at the con if anyone wants to see:

About the tie-in issues... maybe there won't be 17 of them, but isn't DC just as guilty with the tie ins? Infinite Crisis tied in everywhere, with a bunch of limited series that were created just as tie ins (Villains United, Rann/Thanagar War, ShadowPact and OMAC). 52 is having several mini series tie ins as well, including that Fate launch and WW3.

I just love that the Marvel Family including Black Adam and his wife and BiL have all become players over the last couple years with all this Crisis junk. Mary Marvel
