The Unit — "Games of Chance" — 2/20/2007

I've started DVR'ing The Unit for the past couple of months and I've really enjoyed it. Had I known Mamet was involved in this, I would've started watching from Day 1. Is anyone else watching this?

<hr>

"Games of Chance" — CBS — 9PM ET
Spoiler:
While in Germany for some friendly competition with Special Forces teams from various nations, the Unit discovers there is an outside entity involved and they must prevent a real terrorist attack from happening.

I've been watching, some good episodes, great guest stars too. William H. Macy as the prez, Summer Glau (Firefly/Serenity chick), Ed O'Neil (Married With Children), Behrooz on the loose (for all you 24 fans) and even Chozen from Karate Kid II makes an appearance.

This is one of my favorite shows out there. It's supremely well done and feels like a 1-hour movie. Most people didn't like the 50/50 split between the team & the wives at home, and I think they've dialed back on that to a much more tolerable degree. It's a superb show and I hope it sticks around.

Another great episode tonight. I don't watch much TV: Lost, 24, Gilmore Girls (if my gf is watching) and this. This show never disappoints and has a nice realism to it that could benefit 24.

Good episode...anyone else notice Keller's right eye was bloodshot only in the beginning and only in the end of the episode?

That was a crappy thing to do when the annoying wife asked to rich guy if she could borrow his jet. I would've said No, too.

That scene was pretty harsh. "It's my mistake, I listened to an Army wife that never even finished college."

Zing!

Very good episode overall, I thought. Nice twist on the usual field assignment and the wife part was not overdone and actually interesting. I doubt Bob would be pleased that his wife was off on a private jet to the mansion of an old boyfriend, and I would've liked for him to find out.

I thought this was a fantastic episode, and there was more suspense and thrills in it's hour than most of the so-called "thrillers" I've seen on the big screen in a long time.

Last night's plot would've made a great movie. As it was, it was a superb mini-movie!

I'm in the same boat but since House wasn't on this week I caught the episode. They kept the wives to a minimum which was great and the field assignment was interesting as well. The lizard trophy was kinda funny. The fact that Keller's eye kept changing was a bit annoying but it was a solid episode.

Since this seems to be the last thread started about The Unit, I just wanted to say that tonights episode (04/10/07) was an excellent episode.

It was the one where young teens (mostly girls I think) were taken hostage at their school by numerous gunman. They show in detail the preparation that The Unit has to take in order to make a successful rescue.

And finally there was a good backstory with the whiney wives and one of the daughters,
Spoiler:
who is caught with her shirt off in a bedroom with a boy!

Of course that idiot has to take a picture of it and show all of his friends, humliating the young girl.

But the last 4 episodes or so have been very good!

In the history of the show the only episode I haven't liked a lot was the one a week or two ago with Hector in the jungle getting initiated by that tribe. Tonight rocked though.

I don't understand why this show doesn't get more attention here. It's is so much better than 24 these days. The action scenes are always worth seeing.

The voodoo episode wasn't great but at least there was some development with Crystal's character who probably won't be back unfortunately.

Good episode - poor Kim and Libby.

Agreed. The action sequences, which are frequent, are extremely well done for TV. It's also one of the few times where mostly self contained episodes will keep my interest every week. The wife/on base sequences are usually pretty brutal but have least tolerable or even somewhat interesting the second half of this season.
