Just watched Clash of the Titans. This DVD is in DESPERATE need of an SE!!!

Man, I forgot how awesome Clash of the Titans was! Haven't seen in it years. But this is one of those dvds that needs a re-released 2-disc Special Edition BADLY!!

please please PLEASE Warner Brothers, release a new SE edition containing:

1)Commentaries with Ray Harryhausen, Harry Hamlin and Burgess Meredith, Judi Bowker and Lawrence Oliviay.

2)Behind the scenese documentary explaining how they came up with the effects they did.

3)Documentary on the inspiration of films set in Greek Mythilogical times

4)Deleted scenes

5)Extended nude scene with Judi Bowker

After watching this dvd I am simply left wanting more. What are other fantasy films you'd recommend set in this period? I heard something about some old Sinbad movies?

Are there any films or documentaries discussing Greek Mythology?

Are there any films or docs discussing characters like Medusa? She freaks me out every time I watch this movie. She's one scary bitch!

Probably not gonna get much from Laurence Olivier and Burgess Meredith at this point.

They should do an updated cut with all CGI, they could even switch his sword with a candy cane ala ET.

Maybe Anthony Hopkins could affect Laurence's voice and give us the commentary track we all know in our hearts Mr. Olivier wanted to give for CotT before death held sway over him...

I would also like to see a special edition of this. This is one of my favorite movies, and has been for a long time.

What? No love for Maggie Smith?!?!

Harry Hamlin, however, could use the paycheck especially since he is no longer on Veronica Mars.

This will always be one of my favorite movies, and not just because it was the first time I ever saw boobies.

the Turner Classic Movie airings give this movie a TV-MA rating for that brief nude scene.

I'd love to see an SE of Clash of the Titans. It's horribly dated in parts, but the scenes featuring Pegasus and Perseus vs. Medusa are still fantastic.

If you're into Greek mythology, you might like The Odyssey starring Armand Assante. It's super cheesy, but some great depictions of some of the gods and goddesses and monsters (great bit with the cyclops, Polyphemus). Fun movie.

Also recommended: Troy, the original Jason and the Argonauts, and both the Xena and Hercules TV shows.

I would loved to see a special edition of Jason and the Argonauts. Still my favorite Harryhausen's film of all time. I got the DVD and it's only has just the interview with John Landis and a documentary on Harryhausen. I understand that Criterion had a laserdics of the film, can anyone tell me what was on this if any owned this. Thank.

Three brief nude-ish scenes, all of them non-sexual, and only got a PG back at release. TV-MA now? Sheesh.

If you liked Clash Of The Titans, be sure to check out Jason & The Argonauts and The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad.

Do not check out TROY as suggested above. While it may (or may not) have some merits, it is nothing like Clash Of The Titans.

Why not? Olivier seemed in good health when doing "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow".

I was actually hoping that one of the next waves of Hollywood, after superheroes, would be mythology from around the world.

First they need a Mythological movie that makes big bucks and starts a trend. Like how Harry Potter has kicked off a run on children's fantasy films.

I suggested it because the OP asked, "Are there any films or documentaries discussing Greek Mythology?" Didn't say anything about Clash-like films, just myth-related stuff.

Besides the other Harryhausen fantasies, the 1940 version of "The Thief of Bagdad" is a terrific movie.

Too bad about not having more myth-movies. You'd think someone would revisit it with the success of the LotR movies and Narnia. Xena and Hercules series has long runs, so there's clearly an audience for this stuff. I thought the TV miniseries of "The Odyssey" (1997 with Armand Assante) was pretty good. The TV miniseries of "Jason and the Argonauts" (2000 with Jason London) didn't do much for me, and paled besides the 1963 movie despite advances in special effects.
