As of Feb 1st get a FREE HD DVR for new Dish Network Customers! Plus A&E HD!

The $200 fee has been holding me back, now I plan on switching from Time Warner to Dish! It's on their main website and many of the Dish Resellers offer it too... (Did read that some existing customers could get Dish credit for the receiver)...

Announcement here:

...Also, they just picked up A&E HD and the Sopranos will be on this channel.

We've been Dish customers for over 7 years and I wouldn't go back to Comcast (it's been under two other names before) if they offered it half off for life. My and other current customers only gripes are they don't offer much if any "specials" for current subscribers.

If you want more indepth reports on Dish, DirectTV or cable got here...

A&E HD sucks right now. Sopranos heavily edited, and they only play CSI: Miami in HD. From what I've read, everything else is in SD. Sort of like how TNT HD used to be when it first started up.

Yeah, A&E HD sucks. Sopranos isn't even in HD yet (was the first season shown in HD on HBO?). I'm not sure why this channel exists except for CSI:Miami. NFL HD shows more HD content.

Whoa.

With DirecTV raising rates, and dropping channels, I may go for this... if I wasn't so lazy.

Damn, I just signed up for dish HD a month ago. Didn't feel like springing for the $200 DVR.

Same here. I got the HD package back in November. It figures they always spring something better on everyone later.

agreed. if you're an existing customer you get dick - they just want new signups they don't care if you leave afterwards or not.

I third that! I've been a Dish subscriber for 4 years and I called in to see if I could take advantage of these amazing deals to the newbies.

All I got was a big, emphatic "Hell No!" and a dial tone.

Good to know I'm not the only one being screwed by them then. Here I am trying to actually give them more money to upgrade my HD receiver to the HD-DVR, and they don't want it. Idiots. The only reason to choose Dish at this point is the Voom networks, and I really only watch about three of those channels. And that'll be irrelevant too once DirecTV adds all those extra HD channels, although I'm not sure when that will actually happen.

On the plus side, the cancellation fee (since I signed an 18-month contract... I know...) is under $200. I might pay that gladly to no longer have to choose between DVR or HD.

Eh, I hate Comcast and I hate DirectTV, so that leaves me with Dish. I'll sign up sometime next week for this. It's a great deal for the new subscribers.
