Buying dvds from Netflix?? Any experience?
I realize that their regular services aren't up to par, but what about buying from them? They've got a $5.99 sale going on, and my friend (a Netflix user) is willing to let me buy through her account (since I don't use Netflix). I'd never take the plunge, however, without coming here first to get some input from my favorite dvd folk. So, let's have it! The good, the bad, the.... Netflix sales?
Many thanks!

I recently rejoined Netflix and purchased three. I've viewed two of them, and it took a lot of cleaning and hitting the play button before either would start. Eventually they did play without any problem, but I imagine when I try to view them again I'll have to go through the same ritual.
The cases and inserts were in fine shape. The discs arrived in a timely manner. Like many of their rental discs the ones I received had a lot of scratches on them.

I've ordered a couple. The discs all played fine. The only problem was 2 instances of damage during shipping. The DVDs were shipped in unpadded envelopes. Twice I received DVDs that looked like they were run over by a truck. But I filled out the damaged item form at Netflix, and they immediately sent another copy. No questions asked, and I even got to keep the smashed DVDs. Actually, while the cases and artwork were destroyed, the discs were still fine, so I now have extra copies.

I ordered a dvd from their used listing without problems. There were no scratches and it came fine in an unpadded envelope. I guess its the luck of the draw as to how they arrive judging from the comments I've seen.

Thanks you guys! That was exactly the kind of input I was looking for! I figure for $5.99, knowing full well that they're PVDs, I'll be getting what I pay for, so I may splurge on a few "filler" titles just to see how it goes. I'll post here with the results! Thanks again!
