"Children of Men" or "Pan's Labyrinth"...which did you like better?

these are probably the two most buzzed about pics of last year and early this year...

so for those who have seen "Children of Men" and "Pan's Labyrinth", which did you like better?

They were both somewhat similar which surprised me. I think they both showed the bleakness of life only to be redeemed by the struggles of our protagonists.

Spoiler:
the endings were remarkably similar with our hero's both dying
that shocked me, but only for a minute as they made total sense and was very in line with the themes of both films.

I think I would give a slight edge to CoM just because i was gripped and glued almost throughout...

I've seen both twice now and I think I flip-flopped as to which was my favorite movie of the year - but on the second viewing it became clear (to me) that Pan's Labryinth takes the crown.

haven't seen pan's and probably won't until it is out of DVD because of timing, but CoM was a really powerful movie for me.

They both didn't do as much for me as I hoped they would. I thought they were both good, but neither was a slam dunk. I guess I'd probably pick PL as the better film.

They were both equally great in their own ways.

You left out the choice for both. I don't see why I should have to pick one of these great films over the other.

Children of Men. There's not one flaw with the movie.

As much as I enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth, it takes the film nearly an hour to take off and the pacing could've been a little bit smoother (but that's an editing flaw IMO).

Pan's Labyrinth by far. Other than one scene, I thought Children of Men was just ok.

Exactly... They are not easy films to compare just because they are the "most buzzed" about. They are not at all alike.

It's close, as they're my #s 1 & 2 favorite movies of the year - but CoM is my #1, and Pan's #2, so I like CoM just slightly better (mosly because I feel it has a much higher re-watchability factor).

Children of Men just met my expectations, while Pan's Labyrinth exceeded them.

In other words, I really liked Children of Men, but there was just something about Pan's Labyrinth that I fell in love with.

I thought both films were great, but I had more of an emotional reaction to Pan's Labyrinth, so I give it a slight edge over CoM.

I left Pan's feeling inspired... Children of Men impressed me on a technical level, but I felt no emotional response to it.

This is kinda dumb pairing. Both are fabulous films, while both are different genres. Why compare?

Both were giving A-'s my be in my reviews.

Easily: Pan's Labyrinth. CoM was great, but a little disappointing given the hype once I finally got to see it.

I voted Children of Men but it's really close. I felt depressed getting out of Pan's Labyrinth while Children of Men had an uplifting ending.
