I went to Benjamin N Cardozo HS in Bayside, NY

For years I thought our most famous alumnus was Reginald VelJohnson (aka the father on Family Matters)

Today I discovered that this is untrue

Cardozo's most famous alumnus is porn star extraordinare....Ron Jeremy!

Who's the most famous/infamous person to graduate from your high school?

College was a bit better. Bob Denver went to my college, and Mindy Cohn was a classmate of mine, as was Roseanne's brother.

Aparently, my school's most famous alum is Chris Long, a Florida sportcaster. I actually sort of knew Chris -- he's a year older than me, and his cousins and I were next-door neighbors when I was growing up.

My high school didn't open until 1989, so all of our alumni are still relatively young.

I think she was a sweet, innocent girl at 18. I remember reading a story about her way back in 1999 or 2000 when she was 18, she looked great and she seemed pretty normal.

I don' know if anyone else would consider these famout but:

There is - Ray Clement - who was just arrested a couple weeks ago on sexual mis-conduct with a student at Redemptorist. He did not graduate from there though.

There is also - Sean Vincent Gillis - multiple killer in the Baton Rouge area. He was arrested in April 2004. He graduated with my sister.

There was Howard Carter - a basketball player from the early 1980's. I don't remember where he played after high school.

My school is also relatively new...the first graduating class was 1982, I think, and the school was renamed in 1996. No famous people yet, and the infamous ones (armed robbery, murder/police chase/suicide) kept things on a local scale, not national.

I went to a small, private K-12 school in Dallas.

The guy who played Cameron Frye on the Ferris Bueller TV show.
Some guy named Chase Crawford who was in the Covenent.

Of course our most famous alum is Brooke Burns (of Dog Eat Dog, North Shore, Pepper Dennis and 1 season of Baywatch) although she stopped going to school there in 8th grade I think, so I'm not sure she counts.

From wiki: The Bronx High School of Science counts seven Nobel Prize-winning physicists among its graduates:

* Leon N. Cooper 1947, Brown University awarded the 1972 Nobel Prize in Physics
* Sheldon L. Glashow 1950, Boston University, awarded the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics
* Steven Weinberg 1950, University of Texas at Austin, awarded the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics
* Melvin Schwartz 1949, Columbia University, awarded the 1988 Nobel Prize in Physics
* Russell A. Hulse 1966, Princeton University, awarded the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physics
* H. David Politzer 1966, California Institute of Technology, awarded the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics
* Roy J. Glauber 1941, Harvard University, awarded the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics

No other secondary school in the world has seven Nobel laureates as alumni. If Bronx Science were a country, it would be tied at 21st for number of Nobel laureates (as of 2006).

Bronx Science also has five Pulitzer Prize-winning graduates:

* William Sherman 1963, reporter at the New York Daily News, awarded 1974
* William Safire 1947, author and columnist at The New York Times, awarded 1978

Not too many for me, since it was a relatively low enrollment Catholic school. The best known are likely:

Ed McCaffrey -- former All-Pro NFL wide receiver, best known for his role on the Denver Broncos Super Bowl winning teams.

Christine Tayor -- actress; wife of Ben Stiller; best known for her roles in the Brady Bunch movies (Marcia), Dodgeball, and Zoolander.

I was there when both of them were there. Ed's the only one I knew, though. Very cool guy in high school. Nice, smart, and humble (which must've been tough considering he was a 3-sport uber-jock). I was actually in a lot of classes with Ed in grade and high school.

I'm from a little podunk town in Central Texas. From what I know, we never had anyone hugely famous come out of there. Jim Morris, whom the movie The Rookie was made after, graduated from Brownwood High School. Bob Denver, aka..Gilligan, has ties to Brownwood. And most recently, Kirby Freeman, Quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes. I believe we had a couple who made it to the NFL, but I'm not sure of their names, plus, it was like in the '40's or '50's so it doesn't really count :)

I actually had a class with the girl who played Pippi Longstocking. She was a real biatch and was rude and gave the teach major attitude. She actually walked out in the middle of a class once or twice.

Perhaps Thacher's most notable alumnus, playwright and author Thornton Wilder, did not fit in and kept to himself while in attendance. He began writing plays while at Thacher, and went on to write the American classic, Our Town.

The Thacher School was the second of two prep schools attended by Howard Hughes; he entered the school when his parents moved to California and was attending school there when his mother died. True to his eccentric character, Hughes donated only one gift to the school in his life: an astronomy projection device which sat unused in classrooms for many years. Television actor Noah Wyle, film actor Jonathan Tucker, actress Joely Richardson, Bechtel CEO Riley P. Bechtel, and California gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides are also alumni.

Famous alum that attended while I was there:

Well, I can't think of anybody for the high school I actually graduated from. It was a very small, private academy. However, the school I attended for my sophomore year, William Chrisman High School, did produce a valedictorian for the class of 1982 (the year before mine) who burned down a church a few years after graduation, which for Independence, Missouri is quite an accomplishment.

OK, I expect to have more than one poster that graduated from someplace like Humble High, but more than one from Brownwood High School is scary (it is really 3 if you count my hubby too). rotfl

I don't know if Bob Denver actually went to Brownwood High though. There were a few guys from the late 70's teams that went into pro football, but nobody really "made" it.

Considering we had graduating classes that averaged 700 people and the school usually had over 2000 students at any one time I'm surprised no one made really big. We have a few in jail, a few that got rich, but even the sports stars that I can think of went on to regular jobs. We have had people from upstate NY make it big but no one from my high school that I know of.
