I just found out about this total conversion mod called Black Mesa. Basically, these people are rebuilding the original Half Life game with the Source engine and graphics. I normally don't care about fan-made mods, but this one looks to be really amazing if they actually get it working.

They've been working on that since a couple months after HL 2 released. I doubt it's ever going to be released at this point.
