I paid 35.00 dollars for this when it first came out. The only problem is that the bust is delicate and occasionly the little gun hellboy holds breaks in shipping. But this is a gorgeous set.

Thanks, OP. I really had to jump through hoops to get the $10 off though. It was giving me the discount, but I kept getting OOPS, your order did not go through. After trying many times, and signing up for several new accounts, and using two computers, I finally tried a different credit card and it went through. I think they blacklisted one of my cards. It couldn't have been declined since it was a Paypal debit card, and the one that finally went through for me was another Paypal debit card linked to the SAME Paypal account... Very strange... if you notice the search results for hellboy.. the directors cut alone is $25!
i started thinking maybe they just got the images mixed up,

Thanks to the OP for this. I thought the movie was alright. Del Toro's films are always beautiful to look at, and there's some great action, but there are some elements to it that needed work. Anyway, the Director's Cut always sounded like an awesome DVD. I've actually been hoping that Best Buy would include it in their occasional 2 for $20 Special Edition deal that usually included Warner and Sony titles. So this looks like a great deal. I was only interested in the DVD itself, but the bust looks like a good bonus. :)

I just saw the thread and placed my order through Google checkout this very minute. There were no notices at any point about it being out-of-stock. It still says 196 in-stock on the site, which can't be a good sign. That number doesn't seem to be going down as people order so it must be inaccurate. Plus their cart system lets me add as many as I want to my cart, I just put 9999 in.

Do to going through google it delayed the orders progress. when I asked how I get a refund from the google checkout process she responded: Heather: We will issue one back to you. It has to go through our finance and then they issue it to google.

I once tried to cancel an order with Bestprices that I placed through google checkout. I emailed them and also deleted the virtual credit card number I used so they couldn't charge me, figuring that they wouldn't ship if they couldn't charge me. Well, the charge through google checkout failed and it asked me to provide a new card or to cancel the order. I cancelled and later that day I got a shipping notice. The DVD showed up a few days later. According to google, the transaction was cancelled, so I couldn't change anything to fix it.

I actually felt bad and called them about it. The guy on the phone couldn't believe it and said he'd have to check on it and call me back. He called me back the next day and asked for another credit card number. I gave him another virtual number with a limit set just over the purchase price and about 3 months till expiration. I was never charged, I left that card number active until it expired.

I placed one more order with them after that, they sent me Halloween H2O instead of Halloween 2 and I didn't even bother complaining.

Bestprices doesn't have a clue what they're doing.

I would like to point out that GCO is pretty crap. they screw up orders a lot. They cancelled an order on me before (I forget who from...buy.com maybe?) two or three times, taking a WEEK to do it, and maintained that my CC info was wrong (interestingly, this time I was using my branch of a card, which I don't think has *my* address [only my name] tied to it...they apparently accepted it this time without issue. Perhaps CCs are less strict than Debits, for which I guess I should probably be glad...)

possibly orders get processed in reverse at the end of the day? yknow.. 9, 8, 7...
but if they dont finish the list, earlier orders could get bumped to the next days list,
so it could be a simple matter of ascending vs descending order..
(which would completely obliterate '1st come, 1st serve')

She was looking at my order in their system, supposedly! They really are clueless. Of course, just because we got an email saying it shipped doesn't mean it truly did. Maybe they decided to officially "ship" them all, so they could then "return" them all so that we get our refunds through GCO. The CSR did say yestesrday it was a tricky process to issue a refund through GCO... The tracking number is not in USPS's system yet. Once I see it there, then I'll believe it truly shipped...

Got mine today (used GCO) and it was pretty much destroyed during shipping. I haven't decided what to do. The arm broke off and it looked like it chipped the rest of the statue up during shipping. Not only that but the foam inside that the statue is sitting in has also been split apart. Someone really slammed this box down hard at some point in its journey.

DVD is still worth $14, but sucks that I might have to toss the statue.
Paying extra for priority shipping did nothing to help me.

That figure you are referring to is from the Classic Heroes series and goes for over $50 on Ebay. It's an awesome figure indeed. The one that comes with the DVD is simply a cheap torso bust that could easily break upon shipping and what not.

Right now the only GCO deal available is the $10 off $10 for new customers only. People have been getting around that by supplying multiple credit cards and creating new accounts each time they order to get the $10 off. I don't do this however because I consider it to be too much of a hassle to keep track of multiple cards through multiple accounts.

There used to be unlimited use $20 off $50 GCO promotions, but those have since expired and not returned.

This entire situation could have easily been remedied with a simple "FRAGILE" stamp in red ink and maybe some proper packing techniques (i.e. bubble wrap, Styrofoam, etc.) applied! Oh well, I'm pretty much used to the USPS delivering me damaged goods by now. :D Overall I’m happy with everything.

Hm, I talked with Heather as well. I was told my order was cancelled as well, but when the cancellation e-mail came through, it said the reason was "Customer request to cancel". I already got my refund back through GCO, so no harm, no foul I guess. It looks like they finally got around to taking the item off of the site. My box and packing ended up being the worst off. My wife did some surgery on my statue with super glue and the thing looks great. She got the hand attached and all the little chipped pieces fit back into place. It will look fine on the shelf.

Maybe these were so cheap because of the hand/gun breaking off issue. Hit mine with some Super Glue and it looks fine. Bought this as a blind buy and I'm very impressed with the film. Much better than Superman Returns IMHO as far as comic book hero films go.

They really aren't that much different. DC is just more of the theatrical...doesn't make it better or worse. Well, maybe a bit better--I've only seen the theatrical once and I've seen the DC three or four times since, so I can't remember what wasn't in the theatrical cut...

I got mine on Sat. It was thrown in a box much larger than the item and only a couple of half deflated air bags to protect it. The bust was broken, but it was only the gun and I think it can be glued without looking too bad. I really bought this for the movie set anyways.

This will be my last order from them. I don't like online stores that don't pack items with any kind of care.

I'm still happy about the great deal (w/ GC).

I got mine this week. I ordered about 3 days after the original post. It came in terrific condition. Just some very light wear at the corners, in better shape than most boxed sets would be if they sat on a store shelf since this came out. The packaging is so cool, it's great how they even painted the styrofoam up to look like rock and put a symbol on the plastic window as well. The bust is nice, I just wish I had got the giant-sized Hellboy movie action figure at Suncoast when the movie came out. That looked more lifelike than this. All they sell is the comic-book style figure now. But for $7 this is an incredible deal since I probably would have paid $15 for just the extended movie alone if it had ever come down in price. The whole thing is basically a free gift plus because the bust alone has sold for at least $10 on eBay.

It's been a great couple of weeks between this, the Target misprint $10 3-disc Gladiator, $12 shipped 3-disc Master and Commander DVD and books from B&N, and finding 6 copies of the 4-disc Narnia gift set with bookends on clearance for $35 each at a Wal-Mart (a true YMMV since I couldn't even find the set at any other Wal-Marts...not a mind-blowing deal but that's the same price as the extended DVD without the bookends, and by eBaying the extras for $50+ I'll almost pay for the 2 I'm keeping). A lot of great multi-disc and gift set deals!
