Just started watching 24...are there ever repeat blocks of last seasons?

After all the hype about 24 during the playoffs, I decided to watch the first two episodes and now I'm hooked. I'm sure I've missed a lot of backstory. Short of renting the DVDs and catching up, are there ever repeat blocks of previous seasons on Fox or other channels?

WGN was showing two hour blocks every Saturday night starting at 11:30pm. That was how I saw Season 5.

(I just checked their schedule and it looks like it's on this Sunday at 2:30am, so maybe they changed it.)

Thanks. Since this was on network TV anyway, would these be altered in any way for rebroadcast? Are they available in HD?

I imagine their edited somewhat to make more room for commercials. I can't confirm that this was done, but it's standard practice.

I wouldn't really worry about the backstory. Each season is pretty much standalone for the most part. There are so many new characters this season that anyone who shows up from "backstory" will be explained as necessary.

Welcome to the fun that is 24!

I wouldn't completely agree on this. There are always people showing up from the past. And while it may not take long to figure out who they are, those appearances would lose a lot of their impact.

Remember that whole Chinese thing that came back at the end of last season and the start of this season? Also Milo's return? So things do come back from previous seasons and IMO one would benefit from watching them.

Well, I just signed up for Blockbuster Online for a free month, so all previous seasons are in the queue. Now to find other stuff to watch as well....
