2004 Paul Haggis, Million Dollar Baby
Motherfuckin' Paul Haggis... Sigh.

V for Vendetta wasn't manipulative at all, I'm sure when the smoke clears, Letters from Iwo Jima will win.

Because Paul Haggis is the first guy to write broadly? Gimme a break...
The "Lord of the Rings" films are the most "manipulative" pictures of the last ten years, so I vote Peter Jackson and co.

There's some bad movies that I would call "manipulative". We Were Soldiers and Pay it Forward are good examples.
But I WATCH MOVIES to be manipulated! I'm not gonna make a list. But I would say that at least 50 of my 100 favorite movies are largely manipulative. Nothin' to be ashamed about.
