View Full Version : Are we about due for another BBC sale?

I'm about to buy some Doctor Who but it occurred to me that we haven't had a BBC sale at DDD in awhile. Does anyone suspect we might get one soon? Didn't we have one around this time last year or am I remembering wrong? I'd hate to get the dvds and then all of a sudden there's a sale on. heh.

Who knows? (No pun intended.) Why not just go to your local B&N and take advantage of the B1G1 sale? The last DDD sale was before the 20% sale IIRC. Picked up lots of goodies in it, too.

I went to the local one this morning, and was interested in Duchess of Duke Street. They only had series 2 in stock. Also was interested in House of Eliot. Only had series 1 & 3 in stock. Sometimes you just can't win ;-(

I was already there. It's a horrible sale. Nevermind the fact their prices are not great (that can be easily compensated with the sale itself, effectively halving prices in most cases), but they set limitations on the tv sets you can get for free. It makes absolutely no sense to me that the FREE items *have* to cost at least 29.99. They'd actually make more money if they allowed people to choose a cheaper product as the free item, since it would leave the more expensive item for someone else to actually purchase! Poor salesmanship.

Although some of the rules are dumb, I admit, it is truly an AWESOME sale. I got Dr. Who S2 for $26.50 TOTAL, shipped to my door. TWO Twilight Zone Definitive Collections for $169.64 TOTAL, and much much more. My friend bought the complete young ones AND fawlty towers for $40 TOTAL for both. If you can't find any bargains in this sale, then you truly haven't looked very hard... Or you haven't paid attention to the stacking discounts. In store, everything is 10% off, plus B1G1F, plus 15% off with coupon, plus 10% off in you are a member (paid for itself very quickly for me)... Or if the online prices are better, do ship to home, plus 15% off, plus B1G1F, plus 10% off if member OR 5% off for AAA (don't have to be a member)...
What other store is going to let you stack 4 different promotions?

Not everything is 10% off, I don't have the 15% off coupon, I don't have the 10% off membership, and their selection in the store itself was shit. I could order online, but that won't save me any money since they already charge twice as much as DDD.

The point of this thread is not the Barnes and Noble sale. Go to that thread if you have a massive urge to talk about that. I'm just wondering if anyone knows about an upcoming BBC sale. Doesn't look like that's the case.

Everything WAS 10% until the 15th. I was informed today it just ended, but anything that is stickered 10% off still, they will honor. There are THREE different 15% off coupons available in the other thread, if you are interested. Seeing as think that this info doesn't belong in your thread (which is titled ARE WE DUE FOR ANOTHER BBC SALE? and we were pointing out that BBC titles ARE on sale at B&N), WHERE'S THE BARGAIN IN YOUR POST? Your thread doesn't even belong here. If someone knew about a BBC sale, they would have posted it. Threads asking when a sale MIGHT occur is pointless... We were trying to help you out. There's no need for you to be rude about it, in addition to your obvious stubbornness and blindness. The B&N sale beats the DDD BBC sale by a mile... Apparently you never read the thread, however, since the real bargains are neither online nor in store. Ship to Home is where the deals are at... If you only wanted to talk about DDD, try putting it in your title. Then I wouldn't have even read this thread...

Look buddy, this thread has nothing to do with Barnes and Noble. I've already stated my distaste for that sale yet you persist in hounding me about this. There's nothing wrong with my post but I'm starting to get very annoyed by yours. Perhaps a mod would be the best solution to this problem.

Done. I have asked a mod to close this thread. As stated, your title did NOT specify a particular store. We were trying to help you out. Likewise, your thread had NO bargain and was of no use to anyone whatsoever. That's why they made a rule about asking when the next 20% off sale is. If anybody knew about a sale, someone would have posted it!!! We aren't keeping secrets from you! For crying out loud, give it up already...

1. I reported YOU already. Thanks for asking for the thread to be locked though.

2. I clearly stated my intentions in the subject of the thread. Any reasonable person reads the subject before jumping into a post. Or CERTAINLY before going into a second, might I add rude rant to the OP.

3. This isn't about the 20% off sale. Perhaps this "rule" you speak of is all inclusive but I'm pretty sure it was just to cut off the massive surge of threads about that particular sale. This is just asking- politely might I add- if anyone knows of a possible sale in the future. This is absolutely no different than people asking "Is there going to be a sale on ____?" Speculative threads have existed at DVDTalk and continue to exist at DVDTalk. The only difference between those threads and this one is that people know how to read the subjects of those before making an ass of themselves.

That being said, I could care less if this thread is locked. My question was answered before you arrived. Nothing you posted was necessary.

Yikes... he was trying to help you out. You started a thread that doesn't even belong in DVD Bargains (it's for... ummm... posting bargains!), and then you complain when people try to help you?

Thank you for backing me on this. I don't understand why he started this unnecessary thread in the first place, but then to rudely criticize others for trying to help him save money is just over the top...

YOU ARE WELCOME

2. I clearly stated my intentions in the subject of the thread. Any reasonable person reads the subject before jumping into a post. Or CERTAINLY before going into a second, might I add rude rant to the OP.
UM, NO, THE SUBJECT DOES NOT STATE ANYTHING ABOUT DDD. THE SUBJECT SAYS: Are we about due for another BBC sale? AND IT IS YOU WITH THE RUDE RANT. I WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP YOU OUT...

3. This is absolutely no different than people asking "Is there going to be a sale on ____?" Speculative threads have existed at DVDTalk and continue to exist at DVDTalk.

I COULD NOT DISAGREE MORE. THESE THREADS DO NOT BELONG HERE, AND VERY RARELY DO THEY OCCUR. PEOPLE POST INSIDE SPEEDY'S THREADS ASKING IF A PARTICULAR ITEM IS ON SALE, BUT THEY DO NOT CREATE SEPARATE THREADS FOR THESE. IN THE "Best price for XXXX?" THREADS PEOPLE POST THE PRICES FOR VARIOUS STORES (WHICH IS WHAT WE WERE TRYING TO DO HERE), BUT THEY ARE NOT SPECULATIVE, THEY ARE FACT. YOUR THREAD IS NO DIFFERENT THAN SOMONE ASKING WHEN THE NEXT DDD 20% OFF SALE IS. IT IS SPECULATIVE AND POINTLESS. IF WE KNEW ABOUT IT, WE WOULD HAVE POSTED IT...

Nothing YOU posted was necessary.

No one knows when/if there will be a bbc ddd sale. Someone tried to point you to a possible bargain and you go crazy.

Nice Bargain

kenbenobi-

Are you aware of the difference between subject and title? My title is "Are we about due for another BBC sale?" My subject is the content of the first post of this thread. The two things are not always the same, but both of them are important when responding to a thread. I'm not sure what your problem is but clearly you have anger issues if something this insignificant causes you to go into a caps lock tirade.

Anyway, whatever. I'm not interesting in continuing an argument (nor was that my original intent). Sorry for the confusion I seem to have caused here. My question was innocent enough and the responses here were intended (originally anyway) to be helpful- just not the sort of help I was looking for. Thanks anyway.
