Hooking up Xbox Live
Trying to get connected to Live with my 360. I don't have a Router but I do have an Ethernet Switch. Will I still be able to connect? I can't figure out how to hook it up. The manual is greek to me.

If i'm understanding you correctly your modem goes to an ethernet switch then to you computer and 360 via an ethernet cable.
You should be fine, That is almost how I have mine set up, plus a linksys router and I had no probs setting up internet on my 360. I don't recall having to setup any settings either. I just plugged it in and it found them.

I put my dsl modem to the switch and the switch to the 360...Nothing Happens
I put my dsl modem to the switch, switch to my ethernet card, and switch to 360 and nothing happened either
It keeps failing the IP test.
I am still able to be connected and browse the Internet though.

I am hoping to pick up a router tomorrow. I thought I picked one up tonight but in my haste it was a switch.
I have an older router that I tried but couldn't even connect to the net with that.

I'm having a similar problem.
I have a router that I'm using to get wireless internet to my laptop. If my 360 is situated close to the router, will I automatically get a connection on my 360 AND laptop, or is some other connection involved?
(Thought I'd ask here before moving my router to the living room where my 360 is.)
