AT&T's $19.95 rate for naked DSL

AT&T's will be offering $19.95 rate for naked DSL. Naked means you don't have to buy phone line from them.

Verizon offers naked dsl for around $15 in certain regions. Verizon naked dsl comes to around $24 when you add other charges.

That's good news. I'm paying $51/month total to the local mom-and-pop telephone company for bare bones landline service (local calls only, no long distance) and DSL at their slowest speed (384K). We use cell phones and SamsClub AT&T dialing cards for long distance.

If we can get the AT&T naked DSL, we'll save $10 a month off the $29.95 the local phoneco is charging, and we'll double our download speed (to 768K). Hmmm... I wonder, how do I find out whether AT&T will offer that service here?

From reading the article, it looks like...
~$24 Verizon (w/taxes)
$19.95 AT&T (before taxes)

I'd be happy to get *any* DSL service.. the only high-speed internet we have the option of getting is Comcast, and that's a company we swore never to go back to.

I hear ya. I've been addicted to DirecTV for a decade now, and as long as they're my only source for NFL Sunday Ticket, I'll remain a loyal customer. Without cable, my only high-speed option is DSL. I just wish I could bundle all my data services (TV, Cell, Internet, Phone) into a cheaper total. It's amazing how much I'm paying to remain a DirecTV customer.
