Is that 2005 gold slipcase dvd edition of THE ABYSS really anamorphic???

Is that 2005 gold slipcase dvd edition of THE ABYSS really anamorphic?? Or is it false-advertising and it's only letterboxed non-anamorphic. If it is anamorphic as the DVD cover states, how come no one has reviewed this dvd yet???

It includes a 30-minute longer version as well. Which is the better version. Any opinions?

Not anamorphic.

Longer version == better version (IMO).

If it was anamorphic, dvd forums across the land would have been ablaze with news about it.

It's just a case of a problem that FOX is too stupid too fix. I believe every release has said "Enhanced for widescreen TVs" even though non of them have been. The best fix would be a version that's actually enhanced..... that and give me True Lies please.

What gold slipcover edition is this? I thought there was a single disc (black packaging) and a double disc version (white packaging). I have never heard of a longer cut which I would love to have.

You've never seen the version with the giant wave? Yeah, go ahead and rectify that as soon as you can.

Fox repackaged a number of titles based on their Academy Award wins. They were just ugly slipcovers.

and before the white packaging there was the same 2-disc release in black packaging. All of which contain the same extras (except for the 1-disk which I believe is just disc one of the 2-disc set).

I think the original theatrical cut and the longer (and IMO much better) cut of the film appears on all the releases via seemless branching.

I was surprised how much better the extended cut was, but no the DVD does not look anamorphic to me either.
