Perhaps it's just me but when I put in a single player game I don't like having to watch a screen say "connecting to EA's servers" for a minute before it loads the damn game up. Every time I turn on Godfather it does this. Then I check my email address I used for Xbox Live and to create the mandatory EA account back with FN3 and I have 2 emails from them saying I automatically registered the game. I really hate this company so bad I may stop renting the games I already swore off buying from them. Perhaps since I did all I plan on in Godfather yesterday I may swear the EA games off for 07, and beyond. Part of me wishes MS would have stuck to not allowing EA to use their own servers.

Stop buying EA games? But every millionth game comes with free porn! "This is definitely NOT Madden '07," you'll tell yourself.

But I bet it costs 800 points to unlock the really good scenes.

I made a similar joke in the Madden thread.

Not sure who made the comment but the my reigning favorite was if EA released Superman you would have to buy the cape and shield off the marketplace.

 Doesn't bother me. A lot of their games are still fun and enjoyable to play, and until that stops i'm not going to stop purchasing games because of minor details like text about EA's server that are mostly a non-factor to me.

The thing that turned me off to EA was the ad software in the new Battlefied game that scans your computer for the websites you visit. Thats just kinda creepy to me.

that sounds like one of the worst reasons to not like a game I've seen/read. if you don't like the game itself, then by all means stay away.

It's not just some text, it's a wait screen while your single player games connects to EA's servers. There is no reason whatsoever that a single player game should have to connect to Xbox live then connect to EA's server every single time you load it up. It causes you to wait even longer just to get into the game and it is just another example of how EA is abusing the gamer.

Oh, I'm aware what it is. I still don't think anything of it. I went through the same thing when I played Need for Speed: Carbon for the first time, and i was surprised to see 2 emails from EA in my mailbox a few minutes later. I barely notice an extra wait while it connects, nor does it bother me because to me it's just that: a line of text. Not much different from all the other logos and splash screens when I launch a game.

Uh... EA did do Superman. There's even an EA logo in the Superman movie.

He meant the joke was that if EA had released Superman in such a way that you had to unlock basic things like the S crest and cape.

That turned out to be a bogus internet rumor. The only thing that Battlefield 2142 does is collect information about which in-game ads you saw and how long you looked at them.

general question:
if i come into this thread and proclaim my love for EA, would that be considered a threadcrap?

Good for you, stop playing their games that will show them! Be happy, find something else to do!

I like their games alright. I think The Godfather was pretty well done. Superman Returns was a bit of a disappointment though. And well their sports games suck except Fight Night which is amazing.

fight night, ncaa, and tiger woods...otherwise EA is a stinker...still bitter that they got the nfl rights, i got madden for wii...and its fun, but it feels like an unfinished game...same with madden for 360, which ive played a lot.
