So I just set up my new "theater" last night which is run by a Denon 2307CI. When there's a Dolby Surround track, it seems like I get sound from all 5 speakers like I should. But when there's a 2.0 track, I get just the left and the right - is this how it should work?

It's quite odd listening to TV with no center speaker and just the left and right speakers going - and while they do a good job of balancing each other out so it seems like there's a center, at times I can make out each one individually which throws me off a bit.

Granted, I haven't played with all the settings of the receiver, but I'm just wondering if there's a way to make sure the center speaker is included with the left and right on basic 2.0 broadcasts.

You should be able to set it up for using Dolby Pro Logic II, when watching television. It will give you (simulated) surround sound, from all your speakers. Not quite 5.1 surround, but usually very good, considering it's from a stereo signal.

Thanks - I'll research that tonight.

Yea, I have my receiver set to run true surround sound when available (HD & DVD) but then do a simulated surround sound when the source is not surround sound.
