Adult swim dvd recommendations?

I don't have cable, so I've never seen Adult Swim, but some of the shows look interesting.

I love Futurama, and I like the Justice League/Batman Animated/Superman Animated series. I love science fiction generally, and watch most live-action SF shows.

I don't like juvenile or crude humor.

Are there any adult swim dvd sets that I would like?

Venture Bros. - hands down the best show on AS, and a great dvd set to boot.

Judiging by stuff you like, it should be right up your alley. It can get a little crude, but no where near Family Guy levels, and most of it's humor come from it's outlandish characters and the way it makes fun of it's "spy/superheor" genres.

I think I am pretty much like you, but I haven't been able to get into much on Adult Swim. I just picked up Venture Bros, and it doesn't do it for me. The only Cartoon Network show I've really liked is Samurai Jack.

I've recently gotten into Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It's a bizzare show, but I can't look away!

The first four seasons are out on DVD, but I don't have them, as I'm not a huge TV on DVD guy anyway.

Venture Bros. -- if you're a comic book fan or have fond memories of Jonny Quest, this is for you.

Mission Hill -- a series from Oakley and Weinstein, two old-school Simpsons writers.

Home Movies -- from the minds behind Dr. Katz, but with more plot and they dump squigglevision after the first season.

Note that the last two shows are actually canceled WB and UPN series that Adult Swim picked up. Mission Hill only had a single, 13 episode season, but Home Movies ran for four.

Your "I don't like juvenile or crude humor" condition makes your Adult Swim choices pretty limited.

Venture Bros. is my favorite, personally, but it can be pretty crude at times.

Home Movies is great, and probably the least crude of the shows that have shown on Adult Swim, but it's not SciFi related at all.

Actually, Futurama is the only one that doesn't use a lot of juvenile or crude humor. Neither does Venture Bros. for the most part. Boondocks is crude in some ways, maybe call it "socially" crude.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force thrives on it.

Everything else isn't very good.

You can sample the shows at Adult Swim Fix:
http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/index.html

I agree that Venture Brothers or Home Movies sounds more like your thing (I love Futurama and enjoy both of them) but you can check them out online before buying.

You forget Star Boy and the Captain of Outer Space!

And the Renn Faire vs SciFi Convention episode is a plateful of fried gold for science fiction fans.

I'm a die hard "Futurama" fan and I recommend Venture Brothers.

I have still never seen 'Sealab.'

'Aqua Teen' and 'Space Ghost' are probably the best; not so much crude humor as very dada-istic. If you're a fan of awkward pauses, 'Space Ghost' is your best bet.

I was pretty disappointed with 'Robot Chicken'; good concept, awkward execution. Maybe worth geting if you're a big Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mila Kunis or Scarlet Johanssen fan, though.

I've only seen a few episodes of 'The Brak Show', but what I saw didn't impress me. Mayhap I need to see more.

Yeah, almost all of the Adult Swim shows are crude. I really hate that sort of crass humor too, (Not a fan of the new talking butt show, or Family Guy) but Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a really clever, often ingenius little show. You should like it.

Space Ghost Coast To Coast hasn't aged well, but it's often amusing too.

Venture Bros and Home Movies are must owns. You really are not missing anything from the other Adult Swim shows. While mildly amusing, the vast majority are the "if you've seen one episode, you've seen them all" kind of deal.

The first couple of seasons of Sealab are good. It gets bizarre and ugly from there, though.

Hard to tell from your criteria.

I love Futurama and most sc-fi, and several adult swim shows like Venture Brothers, Sealab, Home Movies, and Robot Chicken.

However, I'd classify them all as crude and/or juvenille humor, even Futurama.

Watch a few episodes online before you buy, or rent first.

Venture Brothers is amazingly great, but then I remember Johnny Quest from back in the day.

I, too, vote for you to check out The Venture Bros. Watch them all up to and including the one where Dr. Venture (an inventor) has a yard-sale (of inventions) and all kinds of supervillains (and evidently a guy from Depeche Mode) show up to buy them.

If after that you do not like it I'll eat my hat. This hat here...made of tasty spiced meats.

Definitely The Venture Bros. and Harvey Birdman, Attorney-at-Law.

The first two seasons of Sealab: 2021, before the guy who voiced Captain Murphy died, are good. After that, not so much.

I'd have to throw my support behind Futurama and Sealab.

I bought Venture Brothers blind from the Amazon deal. I never liked Jonny Quest, but VB is hilarious, if quite stupid in some cases. I really like its take on the 'bizarre characters in normal situations' type plots [the aforementioned yard sale one]. Dr Orpheus is awesome as well.
Damn, it's back up to 22.99 on Amazon now.

Other than that, I fifth Futurama, though I don't really consider that an 'Adult Swim' show.
