I am having a slight picture problem with this TV, and was looking to see if anyone in here has any advice.
On the right side, half way down, a little off the right corner, I have a very small ( inch or 2) purple spot. It can only be seen when there is a black or dark scene. I am not sure if it is a brightness problem, and if I need to recalibrate the machine. Once again, any advice would be much appreciated.

Move the speakers farther from the tv and degauss the screen from the menu options. You have a speaker magnet too close to the tv.

Doesn't the set degauss automatically when it's turned on? It sure sounds like that's what my Wega is doing.
The Wegas from about 5 years ago had a quarter to half dollar sized purple spot in the corner that wasn't due to magnetism.

Do I then have to call for service to get it resolved, or is it just an inherit problem with the tv that I will have to deal with?

I have no idea on that model. You could do an internet search with the model number and "purple" and see what turns up.
Is this an LCD projection set? That would be something entirely different then.

It's a rear projection... I have had the TV for about a year, just really started noticing it in the past month

I don't think degaussing is going to help then. And magnetic speakers shouldn't matter either if it's not a CRT tube model.
