Casino Royale or Mission: Impossible 3
Ok, just a simple poll asking which movie you enjoyed better. I'm curious to ask this because people seemed to really enjoy M:I 3, however, Casino Royale is a pretty strongly reviewed movie.
So, if you had to choose one, which one and why?

Casino Royale. I liked MI3 just fine and was surpised how well they fixed a near-dead franchise, but having already been through the Abrams checklist a few times, I found Casino Royale to be more fresh and more entertaining overall.

Casino Royale for me as well. I saw M:I3 after hearing good word of mouth. I liked it, but wasn't crazy for it. It's a pretty good action flick, but at times, it feels too much like an episode of Alias. The ending especially seemed quite lame.
I really loved Casino Royale the first time I saw it. I've seen it twice now and my opinion of it hasn't changed. It's a great movie.

Though Mission Impossible: III moves along at a break-neck pace and features a generous helping of explosives, Casino Royal gets my vote for its strong performances and intriguing storyline. Besides, Bond can kick Hunt's ass any time of the day.

M:I-III was pretty good, although it did fall apart a bit at the end.
Casino Royale was outstanding. Some people said it also had its share of problems at the end, but since it was just being faithful to Ian Fleming's novel, I cut it some slack.

M:I3 was a good movie. Casino Royale however...was great. I had more fun watching Craig as Bond than I did Cruise as Hunt. Action scenes between the two are comparable...but c'mon...it's Bond (the best since The Spy Who Loved Me, IMO).

MI3 was good (on par with the original and WAAYYY better than MI2), but it pales in comparison to Casino Royale. CR and Craig basically turned me back onto Bond (all shit after Goldeneye). MI3 was a good action flick, but that's about it.

I knew before I opened the thread who would be winning, given my knowlege of those who hang out on DVD Talk.
That being said, MI3 is, in my opinion, superior in every way with the possible exception of the acting ability of the lead (I'll give Craig a nod over Cruise in acting "chops").

casino royale.
i saw both movies twice in the theaters and really enjoyed both. but i was more intrigued and fascinated with casino royale's plot, and cr's universe felt more real (if that makes any sense for a spy movie).

MI:3 for me. MI:3 looked, sounded, and felt like an MI movie, as it should have after the horrible 2nd film.
CR, on the other hand, change up the names of the characters and it's just another action movie.

I give the overall nod to Casino Royale, although it falls apart at the end. Casino has a stronger overall story, even though I felt the lovey dovey stuff leading to the ending was just horrid and done completely wrong (in an Episode II 'sand is rough' sort of way). I also feel the prequel elements got in the way of the story rather than helping it. MI3 had a decent story and perhaps fewer glaring issues than CR, but honestly it's just not really memorable. MI3's story served the action as opposed to CR where the action served the story.
I thought the 'captive hero' scenes in both films were incredible. Overall I preferred the action in CR. Philip Seymour Hoffman was the better villain. Craig's Bond is overall a better hero than Cruise's Hunt, although Cruise's dramatic/'guy in love' scenes worked much better for me than Craig's.
It's tough to compare the love interests. Michelle Monaghan had less to do, so Eva Green had more of a challenge. But I wasn't 100% sold on Eva's character. She looked great in that dress, and had a lot of charm early on. But I never felt I got that scene which really sells me on why Bond falls so hard for her. Whereas, with Michelle's character I was sold on the relationship there and didn't question that Ethan was so in love with her to give up everything.
In the end, while MI3 does a lot right and makes fewer mistakes, it's still just not as compelling to me as Casino Royale.
