Thanks for the post, my wife and I have been on the fence for this one since it was released, this finally pushes it below my "buy" point!

I would probably hop on this if it weren't for the rebate...not a big fan of them.

Thx anyways OP. Still a good deal. I guess seeing this isn't worth a rebate hassle to me:)

Probably good to point out that it is available for B1g1 at dvdplanet. So combined with google checkout it has a cost of about 12.50 with no rebate (assuming there is another 34$ title you want)

my source told me that yesterday was the last day for these... she used to work for FYE... so i figured she knew someone there. What she was doing was using a program that randomly generates URL addresses to check which rebates were available on their website... if you look at the actual URL for todays rebate, it has the word "BOST" in it... so now the URL of the rebate is dependent upon the title of the movie. In this case, there are too many possible permutations making it impossible for the program to gather the necessary data for any future DOTDs

so basically what that means is from now on, no more advanced knowledge of these sales

My theory is that someone from FYE was monitoring this forum and found out the little trick your friend and you played. So they played back. :D

i wouldn't rule it out... the program processes about 30 combinations a minute... they added a variable 4 string character to the rebate form. Assuming that those 4 characters can be numbers or letters, we 1,600,000+ combos. If it were only 3 characters, there would only be 47,000 combos...

So basically, with 4 variables, at a rate of 60 URLs / minute, it would take about 19 days to figure it out :)

if it were only 3 variables, it would take 13 hours or so...

unless of course we had multiple computers working on it... but too much effort for too little results...

What if you assume the 4 characters are the first four letters of a word?

Ugh. Mine just arrived in a mailer that consists of two sheets of bubble wrap. So now I have a nice squashed and dented box set. I'm guessing I'll be doing lots of exchanges at FYE.
