Just thought I'd bring up the fact that the Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe 4-Disc Extended Edition is now in stock at buy.com, as both the regular and the giftset. That means that it is now eligible for the google checkout 10 off 30 or 20 off 50. The thing about google checkout is you never know when it's going to end, so I jumped on this now.
Anyway, the regular 4-disc's regular price is 36.92 with free shipping, which means it's 26.92 with 10 off 30 or if you can find something for 13.08, it will be $30 with $20 off $50. The giftset is 70.26 with free shipping, so that means it's 50.26 with $20 off $30.

I remember they basically extended some of the battle scenes and that was about it.

Yeah, the movie itself isn't much different I guess. But there is a lot of extras if you are into that. One disc has a full length feature film on CS Lewis.

Not to steal your thunder joltman, but dvd planet will have the Narnia extended edition for 20.97 with GCO when it becomes available to ship on the 12th. For 21 bucks, i think it's a steal!

The box set with the bookends should be cheaper, considering it is $20 off. Amazon has it for 54.97. Buy.com sure isn't competing with them on that one (without google checkout, I mean)

Yea, I just saw that after I ordered. The only problem is, that's assuming that GCO will still have the $10 off $30. Not saying it won't, just saying I'm not sure. Also, at buy.com I wanted to get a $12 book anyway, so with that, the regular Narnia and a cheap book for a christmas present, came up to $33 after the $20 off of $50, so I think I paid a comparable price with everything included.

Also, by ordering now through buy.com, you may receive the DVD by next Tuesday or Wednesday.

In my copy of Pirates of The Carribean DMC there's a booklet that mentions a $10 rebate if you purchased a previous edition of Narnia. There were no other details but I'm assuming the rebate form comes with the set. that certainly sweetens this deal.

Thanks!

Thanks! For those rebates, do you typically need the original sales receipt or will just the UPC do? I bought Chronicles used (for less than $10 I might add) so as long as a sales receipt isn't needed I could end up with an even better deal.

Good question. Hopefully it's just the UPC, considering it came out in April I doubt many people still have their receipts.

yes, price of 27 dollars after the goolge discount is really expensive.

I think this version has an extra 30 minutes but I am not sure. I allready own the 2 disc special edition. I really hate this double dipping . I am not sure if it is worth it really.

INTERESTING...I was @ buy.com yesterday and the gift set was not in stock yet BUT the price was listed as $64.88, and I thought great, it will be 44.88 with GCOwhen its in stock. Now its in stock and they raise the price! WTF is with these guys:(

agh! are you serious?

oh well. $26 is still a lot cheaper than the $35ish at a best buy/circuit city. at least i'll be getting it soon too since i just got a confirmation that the item's been shipped already!

If you are only interested in Narnia, then DVD Planet is probably better, but to be able to get up to the $20 and apply to another disc that wouldn't have gotten the discount otherwise makes it better at Buy for me.......

I went and ordered from Buy.com yesterday along with a CD for $30.48 ($20 off $50). I'm suprised that I just got a shipping notice considering that in past orders buy.com usually ships a day or two after a title streets. If I'm able to get the rebate this is an awesome deal. Thanks for the post joltman.

My set arrived today and it states that to receive the $10 rebate you need the PoP from either the 1-disc release or the 2-disc release and the PoP from the extended release plus the receipt dated between 12/12/06 - 01/31/07 (for the extended release only). No receipt needed for the prior releases and no cutting the box for the extended edition because it has the removable tabs inside.

by the way,

The Narnia Extended Edition can be bought for $20.07 with free shipping at DVDPlanet using the google checkout. No reason to buy at buy.com

OK maybe I'm just stupid but what is google checkout?

FeelingGreat
12-12-06, 08:23 PM
Google checkout is a way of paying for items bought online. To do so, you need to open an account with google and use your credit card. Once you register, you can use google checkout to buy things from various merchants online withouth having to re-enter our billing and shipping information each time as you buy from different merchants.

Check to see which merchants participate in the google checkout.

Right now, there is an offer where there is an automatic $10 discount for every purchase over $30 when using google checkout. DVDPlanet is one of the merchants with the google checkout at this time.

You can buy Narnia extended edition at DVDPlanet now for $20.06. No need to deal with mail in rebates or other coupon codes. All you have to do is checkout using google.

it isn't on mine. you'll have to just click on "more" and then you should see google checkout.

hmmm..double dip from the 2 disc edition.... how much extended material are we talking about here

taa455
12-13-06, 09:02 AM
^^Not much. I think less than 10 minutes total new material, and nothing is added to the storyline. It is only extended battles and longer visual cuts of certain scenes. See the thread in the main forum or the DVD talk review for more info.

My 2 cents, if I already had the 2 disc I wouldn't be buying the EE.

Regarding Google Checkout (which I haven't used yet), is this $10 off $30 discount a limited time offer or will there always been big discounts for using it? I'm surprised they allow it on every purchase over $30. I guess they're trying to get a lot of subscribers and then they'll probably yank any promotions.

JediMindTricks
12-13-06, 12:04 PM
from my understanding, it's limited. i remember reading how the google checkout deal with buy.com will expire either today or the 21st.

This edition has 15 minutes of additional footage.

This edition has 15 minutes of additional footage.
The problem is that it is only done by adding 10 seconds here, and 15 seconds there and so on.

You can read about it here
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/narnia-lion-extended.html

To me it is not worth the double dip.

I heard there is a $10 rebate if you have already bought the previous Narnia editions. I don't want to have to cut out the proof of purchase from the dvd cover art from the previous edition. Is there another way?

If you have logged in successfully, then try hitting BACK. This and some FORWARDs and refreshes finally got me to the checkout.
