You need to have an account with Google, a Gmail account will work. The downside is that you need to give them your CC info which they will store. If you are fine with that, you simply choose "Google Checkout" while checking out at sites that allow it. $10 off $30 and $20 off $50 will then work via Google Checkout. The receipt you get from the site you purchase from will not reflect the coupons, a separate confirmation from Google, however, will.

No idea...? I just placed my X-Files order with them about 30 minutes ago using the Google payment/discount and didn't have a problem. It starts out charging you for shipping but as soon as you select the free shipping it should instantly adjust your total.

Must be a glitch.. Try logging out and clearing your shopping cart... then try re-ordering...

This is a great catch!! Here are some $5.99 that I was considering: Cabin Fever, Ninth Gate, and Mod Squad. Not great but still gets you over the hump.

You shouldn't hit Proceed to checkout, the button is just below that.

I cleared my cookies, history and deleted temp files and I was finally able to see the GCO. When I selected the GCO, I got a message saying my browser was incompatible. I ended up upgrading to the newest version of IE and still nothing.
I decided to try Firefox and was finally able to use the GCO.

sometimes you just have to hit the BACK button several times and the REFRESH and the FORWARD button in various combinations to get it to work. That is what I have had to do and kept doing it for several minutes until it finally worked. Yes, even when you login and Google checkout stays on the login showing you logged in. Someone in another thread said to try the BACK button at this time to get to the final checkout screen. It worked for me the first time on some and on some I still had to go through all those previously mentioned gyrations.

Regarding the Google threat to suspend an account: I've placed a total of something like 26 orders at Planet, Empire and Buy. When the GC offer appeared at Planet I placed 3 fast orders within 8 minutes. I haven't received the letter but if so, I'd just open a new account at a different e-mail address.

called customer service yesterday about the many items sold out on the b1g1 free sale. I was told that those items are on backorderd and will be instock by the end of December. The B1G1 free sale ends on December 15, 2006.

I supsect those items will not be in stock for you to take advantage of the google checkout before the sale ends. This sale is exactly the same as at DDD and prices are basically the same. Since the items at DDD are instock for the most part, ordering there you will probably get by Christmas.

The only reason for buying at DVDPLanet is to take advantage of the google checkout and now that they can not provide sufficient stock for you to do this, there is really no reason or advantage to buy from DVDPlanet.

Why I'm asking is because my set came with the 2-disc version of Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid, I'm curious if this was a fluke or were the sets updated with the new edition? Either way it was a nice suprise.

If you chose the cheapest shipping option, that's USPS media mail, which can't be tracked (hence the blank number in the GCO link), and is quite likely to take more than five shipping days to get to you. That's why it's cheap.

Mine have been averaging about ten shipping days to CA, so I wouldn't start worrying for a bit yet.

I haven't even received a shipping notice from DVDPlanet on the order I placed on Dec. 10th, even though both sets were in stock.

Have you checked your order status at DVDPlanet? All 8 sets I got were "in stock" when I originally ordered them from the B1G1F page, yet all but 3 of them are currently listed as "Back Order" on my account page (the other 3 sets all shipped late last week according to my order status, though I only got a shipping email for two of them).

That's the thing about using the Google Checkout, the orders don't show up at DVDPlanet, only in your Google order history (where they are listed as shipped, btw, but I ain't seen 'em yet).

I wonder if that means I am not earning any Frequent Buyer Points on those orders?

I inspect the "Stephen King Collector's Box" set and was really horrified. Only the disc for the movie Carrie is in there and it is dislodged from its position. The other three DVD cases are totallly empty without any movie at all. What is going on here? How could something like this happen? Has anyon had this problem before?

Was the item shrink wrapped? Have you contacted customer service? I am sure you would be taken care of if you contacted them...

Yeah, I noticed that last week. People who used Google Checkout with DVDPlanet should log in to get their password changed. Having an account with that particular password isn't exactly safe...

I've had that happen on a single title before (think it was purchased from amazon). Still in shrinkwrap with all the protective stickers, just no dvd inside. I have also gotten 2 disc 1s and no disc 2 on an X-files set before.

Was the "Keep e-mail address anonymous" box cheacked when you went through google checkout? It was on my first order, but I unchecked it on all my other orders. The only one that is NOT in my DVDPlanet order history is the first order.

According to DVDPlanet(Mark Harrill)'s post (in this or another related thread) GCO orders also earn Frequent Buyer Points. However, it looks like they have not done any weekly updates of points earned for about a month now, since both my original and GCO-related accounts have not been credited for orders that were shipped after Thanksgiving.
