I only paid $4.99 for the current version, so I'll happily upgrade.

I haven't seen it, but I'm guessing it's about a very lonely horse with a horn.

I have the German version, but I would happily get the R1 for one of my childhood favorites.

great to hear. Odd that the thread is missing, there was one just a few months back saying they were considering doing a re-release, adn I think someone was pushing a petition...but who knows.

i replaced a bootleg with the crappy dvd out now, and plan to do the same with a real Widescreen version

Same here. I never thought we'd see one release in region 1, so I'm shocked to see a special edition. I can't recommend this film enough, one of the finest animated films ever made.

Wow, that's a surprise. Good to see that Lion's Gate realized that they had a great property there and are going to treat it right.

FYI, comparing the 'fullscreen' R1 to the widescreen German, the R1 *is* pan&scan. The sound was 10x better on the German disc too, compared to the muddy R1 disc. I really look forward to see what they come up with.

For everyone who hasn't seen this, I'd recommend at least a rental. It really is a fantastic animated film.

That's not too bad, considering it's $14 through Amazon. I may have to get one.... plus the extra money goes straight to the author.

This was released today. Did anyone pick it up? I ordered the autographed version through Colan Press, so not sure when it'll arrive.
