Criterion $39.95 titles for $22.08 shipped at DVDEmpire with Google Checkout

Now that the $10 Google Checkout promotion has returned to DVDEmpire almost all of their $39.95 titles can be bought (one per transaction) for $30.03 + $2.05 shipping less $10 GC = $22.08
The Google discount option appears after your add a title to your cart. I just ordered the new 2 disc edition of Amarcord for $22.08.

"I can think of two things wrong with that title."

nice moskeeto - on some titles, this can save about $2 per criterion. buy 100, you can save $200!!!

EDIT: silly me. $2 per criterion compared to the 20% ddd sale that is.

yeah, spend $2200 to save $200...

If I had that much money to spend right now, I probably shouldn't be spending this much time here.

Good find, though. I may consider buying 1 or 2. :P

I wonder if this offer will go away any time soon? I need to eventually pick up "Sullivan's Travels". In my quest to rebuild a DVD collection that I have slowly sold off due to financial problems the past 2 years, that would be the first Criterion I would want to buy back.

Be aware that Universal is putting out a big Preston Sturges set next month including both Sullivan's Travels and The Lady Eve, along with Hail the Conquering Hero, The Great McGinty, and several others. The set is supposed to be pretty barebones, so if you're big into extras go with the Criterion, but hold off if you just want the movie.

Excellent thread, as I believe many of these titles were just below the $30 threshold previously.

But I had to double-check DDD when I saw it. Didn't they use to have all the $39.99 titles priced at $25.97 (or maybe $25.87 to beat DVD Planet)? Did DDD just jack 'em all up for their so-called "sale"?

So the Google checkout discount isn't just a one-time use kind of thing?

If not, this makes DVD Empire a lot more desirable, as they carry several titles that DDD doesn't.

I actually ordered the Sturges set with this $10 off. It comes out Tuesday and I've already got notice that it's shipped. Thanks OP!

You can re-use the GC offer as many times as you'd like. To maximize your savings just checkout with 1 $30.03 title in your cart.
The GC Promotion here is likely to expire; I'm not sure when. They ran this promotion recently but it did expire and was only reopened after about 14 days where it was gone. Until the current expiration date is determined, I would advise everyone to order soon.

I believe DDD used to carry most of the $39.99 titles for $28.76, which would come to $23 after the 20% discount. DDD had a big Criterion sale in the Spring and after it was over their Criterion prices were higher than before and never went back down. I don't think they raised them for the 20% off sale. the 3 that I've been following since long before the sale (7 Samurai, Amarcord, and Playtime) are all exactly the same price as before the sale.

For those looking to buy Criterions, be sure to check the new thread about the 20% off sale at DVDPlanet!
