Local KMart has nothing, Walmart has COD3 and GOW collectors but I don't want to pay the extra for CE. So should I order GOW and wait or go buy COD3? I love COD2 but I want GOW bad, but will prolly only buy one and rent the other. What do you guys think?

Damnit, anyone know what is up with my 360?
I have over 125 hours in Oblivion, almost done with the game now just finishing the mage quests, the fighters guild quests and I am at the main quest where the great gate is about to open and I have to tell the countess. Now, just in the last two days, when I talk to a character, there is no voice but there is a voice when I walk by people. It's also taken to freezing on loading new levels and so on. I tried clearing the cache with the A button a few times, but the game has froze about 6 times in two days. Am I screwed and will soon get the red ring?

I'm tempted to do that too. But Gears of Wars looks really nice.
I think what I'm going to do is get a 360 from Costco. They have quite simply the best return policy of any store around. You bring the item back with your receipt, and they give you cash back. This'll spare me from having to get an overpriced extended warranty from Microsoft. If my 360 never has any problems...fantastic! But if it does, then I can just return it and get one of the newer (hopefully better cooling) versions.

No I didn't try that. I did resolve a couple of the issues. When I have my home theater set to digital 5.1 then I get all sounds and all voices except when directly speaking to a character. If I set my HT to just stereo, I get all the voices. This makes no sense and it can't be the cable since if the fiber optic were broken no sound would be heard. The HT is working since voices are heard when walking past characters and the music and sound effects are fine in 5.1 digital. Some odd glitch.
As for freezing, I noticed after I posted that I had 240 game saves, and even though it shouldn't matter since I had 10.7 GB free space on HDD, Oblivion was taking up 480 MB. So I deleted all but about the last 10 saves, now it's at 30 MB. The load times went way down and no freezing after that, yet.....

I wanted to see if our own Liver with his wonderful contacts in the industry (or anyone else who might have heard anything) has heard any sort of release date for Culdcept Saga. There was a video around E3 and i thought it was due this fall but haven't heard anything else about the game sense. I'm hoping since it is a very Japanese card battling game it might come out for less than 60$.
CoD3 continues to be the most awesome game i own right now other than some online issues which i hope get corrected soon. Gears so far has been really disappointing.

I had this problem a couple months ago. Turns out that I had accidently hit one of the DSP buttons on my amp.
Try looking for a button that says "direct." You want to be in basic Dolby Digital, not any of that other crap, like concert or whatever. Most receivers have a "direct" DD 5.1 setting, which is probably the problem.

What's funny is that these games seem like they're going to sell very well despite all the people who complain about the amount of in-game advertising you see nowadays. Most people I know that have a 360 plan on picking up at least one, if not all, of the BK games. Hell, I plan to get all 3 of them - a $4 Xbox game? Count me in!

Viva Pinata looks like loads of fun. I mentioned in another thread how I rented Open Season, that game is lots of fun too. It's really easy, but it's loads of family fun. I have everything done on it except the snowball level, I got all the way to 495 points but you need 500. I have done that level like 30-40 times now. I actually spent more time on this one level, replaying it for the maximum points, than I did to beat the game.

According to a Best Buy's retail protocol for selling the PS3, customers who waited in line but didn’t get a PS3 will be offered a launch day deal of an Xbox 360 Premium System and two game titles, with a third title at no cost.
The offer is said to be valid from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19.

Half-Life 2 Slips Through Portal
Valve has sealed itself inside Team Fortress and you'll have to wait a bit longer to play all three games.
November 10, 2006 - Looking out across the game horizon, past the holiday season and into the new year, one of the most anticipated titles of 2007 is definitely the one-two-three punch that is Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Unfortunately, it looks like the game has slipped past its expected Q1 release window into summer of 2007.
According to CVG, Valve's Doug Lombardi has confirmed that Episode 2 has been pushed back again (it was originally announced as a holiday 2006 title). Specific reasons for the delay were not cited, but as the game includes both Portal and Team Fortress 2, we can probably chalk it up to the package being pretty darn ambitious.
News of a delay for an anticipated title is always disappointing, but it's better than being disappointed by an anticipated title's release.

EA Bites Back at Marketplace Microtransactions
Pay-for items in games provide gamers with choice, says EA bigwig.
EA has defended its stance on the controversial Marketplace microtransactions in which players can buy and unlock in-game items in exchange for bought MS points. Talking to Microsoft's Major Nelson in his regular podcast, Chip Lange, Vice President of Online Commerce at EA, stated that the publisher was only providing consumers with a choice and that players can instantly unlock something - such as a golf course in Tiger Woods, rather than put 40-50 hours into the game - something which Lang claimed only 20% of people would do.
When drawn upon the issue of charging for what once might have been a cheat code, Lange argued, "There are places where cheat codes are free but those are on websites and those websites are making money by selling advertising." He went on to say, "There'll still be a healthy business around hint guides, magazines, websites… I just look at the Marketplace as yet another extension of ways in which consumers are going to be able to access the content they want."
Major Nelson went on to question Lange about removing cheats from current-gen games and charging for them on the 360 but he evaded the matter by stating, "I don't know if that's right or not. That's not something I've actually gone in and researched." It was certainly the case with The Godfather, where a push-button code to access more cash that was present in the Xbox version was removed from the 360 version.
In the rest of the interview Lange assuaged fears that content which was present in a current-gen game, such as levels, would be paid-for extras on the 360 and he rejected the suggestion that consumers were being short-changed. He went onto anticipate that EA would stick to its current pricing structure, stating, "As the gaming industry becomes more online centric that's going to provide a whole lot more choice to the consumer base provided that the basic package continues to be robust and rewarding."

I listened to that on Sunday. Chip was very much a spin doctor for EA. His answers were quite general and covered the questions with broad generaliations and buzz words. I'm almost kind of shocked I didn't hear "synergy" tossed in there somewhere. ;)
From their craptastic online servers to their marketplace fleecing policies, EA easily ranks as the most hated publisher on Xbox Live over the 360. And they seem content to stay that way.

Please do not buy microtransactions people. Well, I can see certain things like some of the reasonable stuff but for cheat codes or uniforms for your teams is stupid. That should be free and included in the game.
It seems they are feeling a little heat by people being upset about this trend. Keep giving it to them and don't buy their crap!
$59.99 for a game and they can't give cheat codes with it? Or $59.99 for NCAA and they don't include all the uniforms because they want to charge for it latter on. I was going to buy The Godfather but I'll wait till it drops in price just so they don't get as much money. I never saw the point in spending money on microtransactions. I mean, buying map packs is one thing, but when games like Star Wars : Battlefront 2 go the route only being able to play online if I buy a few maps, I just stop playing the game all together. I don't particularly have a problem with microtransactions as much as I have with the inability to have a "hardcopy" of the stuff that I paid for. If I buy add-ons for a game, I want to be able to sell/give away those add-ons when I sell or give away the game.
I have a problem with not having a way to backup the stuff that I've paid for and instead have to rely on the accuracy of Microsoft's records of what I've paid for. Add-ons or XBLA titles... it's all the same.

It's all good fun I suppose, but the appeal of realism isnt there for me. Sure, it's not that type of game, but thats one of the reasons i wasn't 'taken' with the title. I prefer games like Moto GP, that have very steep learning curves, and provide that realism I want from a driving/racing title.

 I'm the opposite, realistic racing has zero interest to me. I want speed(faster than normal) and major wreckage. And Burnout has those in spades.

yea, the crashes were definitely the most appealing part of that game, for me at least. I wish they would adopt those same kind of physics/realism in the sim type racers I am into

I rented burnout and didn't enjoy it at all. As for EA, I am through with them. Every move that company makes is horrible. For me, I say make them and their partners suffer. I hate their servers, I hate their agreement with the NFL and I hate the way they think they are the best software company. The NFL2K games were so much better than Madden and when they released the new game way cheaper than Madden, that's when EA bought the rights to the NFL. As much as I love football, the NFL and EA can go to hell cause I will never buy a Madden game.
When I first got the 360 I had to get FNR3 but I will probably never buy another EA game again.

Well, that makes sense for stuff like Oblivion extra quest conent and stuff like that. I have no problem with those types of microtransactions or multiplayer ones because I don't play multiplayer games. While there are a lot of people who play online, the overwhelming majority of people play games for single player. So if those guys want to spend more on new maps and such I don't see a problem with it. But for things like cheat codes, uniforms, uno skins... give me a break!

IMO, the Burnout series is the best racing series out there that isn't Wipeout (Namely XL, since the others kinda suck). It's a outright blast, and I agree, realistic racers do nothing for me. That said, Burnout Revenge was a step back, but still a great deal of fun. I also don't own any EA games outside of BO:R at the moment, and don't mind keeping it that way. Not big on sport games.
Microsoft to do online test of "Halo 3" in 2007
Wed Nov 15, 6:14 AM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) on Wednesday said it will invite gamers to test the online multiplayer features in its long-awaited "Halo 3" video game in spring 2007.
The "Halo 3" test will be available to Xbox 360 consoles and accessed via Microsoft's Xbox Live online game service. Microsoft said it will take feedback from testers and use it to put finishing touches on the third installment of its blockbuster game series.
Microsoft and "Halo" maker Bungie Studios said they also will offer new downloadable "Halo 2" content for the Xbox 360 in spring 2007.
Sony Corp.'s (6758.T)(NYSE:SNE - news) PlayStation 3 -- a rival to the Xbox 360 -- makes its U.S. debut on Friday. Nintendo Co. Ltd. (7974.OS) will unveil its new Wii console on Sunday.
They better not charge us for this! ;)
Good news about the new Halo 2 content.

I think this "beta test" aka demo, is nothing more than a way to get the word out for those that are only on silver. Anyone who wants to test drive Halo 3 will need to pony up and they are giving people plenty of notice. Smart idea, but a lame announcement overall since it is six months out.

Hmm... I don't know about THE best because there are a few non-traditional racing games that are excellent in their own right. A few other franchises that come to mind: F-Zero, Mario Kart & Waverace. Burnout is definitely "One of" the best though.
Microsoft owned developer Bungie has revealed new details on next year's release of Halo 3, to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved on the original Xbox, with news of a public online beta and other promotions.
The multiplayer public beta, which is described as a pre-release version of the multiplayer portion of Halo 3, is scheduled for release in spring 2007. Although not stated, it is implied that the game will be an Xbox Live Marketplace download, although no indication was given as to whether it would be made available for free.
Also scheduled for next spring is a series of new multiplayer maps for original Xbox title Halo 2. The maps will be exclusive to the Xbox 360, where the game continues to be the most popular online title more than a year after the launch of the next generation console.
No firm release date is available for Halo 3, with most analysts assuming a late 2007 launch. However, a new 60 second teaser trailer for the game will be show this year as a “one-time airing” on December 4, on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The ad, created by advertising agency McCann Erickson, will also be available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace.
“The Halo Nation has a nearly insatiable desire,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Corp. “We hope a taste of advance Halo 3 gameplay satisfies some of their appetite as we count down to the game’s launch later in 2007.”
Merrill Lynch: Xbox 360 To Win Next-Gen Battle Through 2011
A new report from Japanese market analysts at financial firm Merrill Lynch has predicted that Microsoft's Xbox 360 will gain the greatest worldwide market share of the next-gen consoles through 2011, with PS3 and Wii marginally trailing.
According to an International Business Times report citing Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, research analyst for Merrill Lynch, the Tokyo-based division for the financial giant has predicted: "The winner in the next-generation console battle is likely to be the Xbox 360, which is the leader in North America, the world’s biggest market."
In addition, Kinoshita's research note revealed: "We forecast respective market shares [in March 2011] of Xbox 360 [at] 39 percent, PS3 [at] 34 percent and Wii [at] 27 percent, thus overturning Sony’s domination of the market with its PS2-based share of 69 percent, and doubling Microsoft and Nintendo’s respective market shares."
Kinoshita clearly believes that no one company will dominate all territories however, suggesting that Sony will still have 57% of the console market share in Japan by that date, with Nintendo's Wii at 39% and an unspecified small percentage for the Xbox 360.
However, it is his prediction for the North America market that is most startling and perhaps debatable, with his suggestion Microsoft will have 50% market share by 2011, of while the PlayStation 3 has just 27% and the Nintendo Wii 23%.

I see that as possible. I don't think the PS3 will "fail" but they stand to lose the most market share. The 360's early launch helped it (like the PS2), not hurt it (like the Dreamcast). By the time the A-list PS3 games come out next fall, the 360's library is going to be immense.
I definitely see Sony's share going below 50% although I'd be surprised if it went below 35%.

I think Microsoft is going to end up first this generation, and one of the main reasons is it will take Sony too long to manufacture the units to catch up. At the rate it looks like they are going, it isn't going to become widely available until a year and a half into the 360's life cycle. By then the 360 will probably have an installed base of more than 10 million, which will be a big incentive to to win over the wide third party support the PS2 enjoyed last gen.
This all depends on how well the Wii is accepted by the casual, non-gamers Nintendo is targeting, since Nintendo can manufacture the units to catch up.

Anyways - I knew it'd be cool and all, but I was not ready for 1080 HD gaming in 5.1 surround sound. Holy shit! The in-store demos do not do this justice. The only downside was that playing this on my home-theater set-up was just sensory overload - I seriously had to stop after about 20 minutes. Damn.

I'll buy it for sure when I can grab it for $20-$40 or so. It would be the perfect type of game for one of those droughts where you want something new to play after you have just finished up all of the 50 hour long marathon games and the really, really solid games of the fall and winter.

The visuals in the Superman Returns demo are still terrible. I remember seeing that demo at E3 and just cringing while the rep was playing through it. It's painfully obvious EA is using the port of the PS2 version. We already know a world can be massive and look great (Saint's Row). It's a shame too, because Metropolis could have looked so sharp.
The gameplay is on par with the E3 demo. Not much has changed, although I would have suspected finer tunage of the targeting system. I think I set more citizens on fire with my heat vision than bad guys. rotfl

I think the only game to ever creep me out at times was Doom III, until I got Condemned. And that was a creep-filled-fest throughout most of its entirety. After you beat Condemned, it's not really a game you're going to want to play through again. It's not because it's not good, because it is a very good game. It's just because its replay value isn't up there. For under $20, Condemned certainly is a no brainer. Great game from launch.

I take it both are coming out in Japan on the 360?
I hope good RPG games keep coming for the 360 to the States.
With some recent news hits to Sony losing exclusive titles. I'd about faint if Final Fantasy XIII hits the 360 as well as PS3.
I think XIII is the first one for PS3.
XIII is the last game to fall under Squenix's exclusivity contract with Sony. In other words, it's PS3-only for XIII, but XIV-infinity can be on any console Squenix wants. Also, stuff like Kingdom Hearts III and Dragon Quest IX will also be available on consoles other than the 360.

has anybody read this article (http://dpad.gotfrag.com/portal/story/35372/?spage=1) ?
It is a pretty good article comparing the power of the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. (CPU & GPU)
One interesting quote:
"1080p is not a smart resolution to target in any form this generation, but if 360 developers wanted to get serious about 1080p, thanks to Xenos, could actually outperform the ps3 in 1080p. (The less efficient GPU always shows its weaknesses against the competition in higher resolutions so the best way for the rsx to be competitive is to stick to 720P) In vertex shader limited situations the 360’s gpu will literally be 6 times faster than RSX."

There are other adapters (non-Microsoft brand) you can get for half the price that are compatible.
You know, I'm an idiot. I don't need to drop any money on an adapter.
All I have to do is unplug my router upstairs, bring it downstairs, and plug it straight into the 360 each time I want to go on Live - the whole process shouldn't take more than 20 seconds...

Sure, you still have to buy the following items.
Hard Drive - $100
Hi-Def Cables so you can get HD - $50
Wireless Controller - $50
Which puts it at $300, the same as MicroCenter's rebate deal (though you'll get an extra wired controller if you go the Amazon way).

Yeah. But if you don't care about the wireless controller or hi-def cable, it is $100 cheaper with the Amazon route.
Its nice that they are doing it. And hopefully those that want the system are able to get one. I envision a mad house though and the Amazon server taking a beating.
I also wouldn't be surprised to see half of those end up on eBay for profit. :headshake:

I was only planning on getting the Wii, but this deal is way too good to pass up. So now I'm getting a Wii and 360 on the same weekend. This deal is in Canada only, and its one day only at future shop. It's $50 off the Holiday Bundle with Gears of War and Ridge Racer 6 for free.
So for 449.99 you get
XBOX 360 Pro Holiday w/Ghost Recon AW & Arcade
Fully loaded, it's the unsurpassed gaming and entertainment experience right out of the box. We're talking Ghost Recon: Advances Warfare, Xbox Live Arcade: Unplugged, a 20GB detachable hard drive for downloading content and saving games, plus a headset and a wireless controller for instant XBOX Live action.
Gears Of War (XBOX 360)
Ridge Racer 6 (XBOX 360)
This just makes Wii60 more attractive. For Canadians, you can get a Wii, and a killer 360 bundle , gears of war, and Ridge Racer 6 for $90 bucks more than a PS3.

Can someone explain to me the logic behind Gold subscription-only game demos (like Superman Returns)? I get it for free themes and gamerpics, because those are free little benefit things to reward people for the extra expense. And I understand it for multiplayer demos, because what's the point of downloading a multiplayer demo if you don't have Gold.
But for standard, single-player game demos, what is the logic in limiting the audience to Gold members? I thought the point of these demos was to get people to sample the game, which would potentially lead to a sale when the game comes out. Do they not want Silver users to buy their games? Or does Microsoft actually think this tactic will force people to subscribe to Gold? As someone who's just not that interested in multiplayer right now, I'm surely not going to shell out extra cash just to check out their 'free' publicity.

I've already been through this one with my girlfriend, I will spend the together time watching the chick shows only if she wants to spend an equal amount of together time playing video games. I only said it because I knew she would balk, but if she had accepted it would have been a huge mistake. She watches Grey's Anatomy while I play games on the computer.

I just got my 360 tonight (after wanting one for over a year). Until Sunday (and some of the deals at BestBuy) I just have RidgeRacer 6. But I have some questions that I'm hoping you guys can help with.
1) I know overheating is an issue, so what is the optimal setup? Vertical or horizontal? And I've also heard the powerbrick needs to be in an open area, is that right? I'm going to buy the warranty from MS, but I still want to prevent any malfunction due to something I can control.
2) Should I buy one of the aftermarket coolers (like the Nyko Intercooler or the Pelican fan stand)? I'm fine with the price of either, I just don't want to do more harm than good with them. The Pelican seems good, since that will keep it upright and stable.
3) I got the Premium, so I have the wireless controller. It looks like MS sells products for keeping the controller recharged. What is the difference between the "Quick Charge kit" and "play and charge kit"? If I'm going to get two wireless controllers, do I need two charge kits?
4) What do people consider "essential" accessories?
Thanks for any answers you can provide!

Okay, I got FIFA 07 to review, and I have to ask:
How on earth do you play this game? I played three matches and each time I got my ass handed to me. I know I'm new to it, but even when I thought I was picking up the fundamentals of the game, I still couldn't actually make my players work any better. And what's up with the awful auto-player selection? For some reason the game decides it's best to choose a player that's 20 yards away from the ball instead of a player that is right next to it. I spent most of the time screaming at the TV screen. Worst gaming experience I've had in a long time. I don't know how I can fairly review this. While there are clearly things I can point at and say "This should have been done better," I can't really judge the rest as I have no sports experience. I didn't realize the game would be so in-depth.

1- I keep mine horizontal (launch system) keep well ventilated, do not place power brick on carpet.
2-can't help you here, as I don't have one
3-Play and Charge, charges via USB. You can plug it into the console and continue playing "wired", comes with battery. It will also charge over night plugged into the 360, but I would avoid this. You can also plug it into a pc to charge. Quick charge kit plugs into the wall and can charge 2 batteries at once. Comes with one battery. I would stick with a quick charge kit and extra battery. Or, just get some rechargable AA.
4-The remote is nice, but you can still navigate with the controller pretty easily....oh, I grabbed a headset "adapter" from circiut city for $10 that allows me to use my Halo 2 headset.

Just use a cord for your controller to charge it while you play that seems the simplest to me.

Whatever you do stay away from the Nyko Intercooler, there have been reports of it destroying systems. I really don't think you need any kind of cooler device just keep the system well ventilated.

I'm not sure that using the 360's USB ports to charge the battey will cause any issues. But I will say that using a seperate PC's USB ports does charge it much faster than the 360's ports. You(mbs),should also know that while playing "wired" the controller does NOT use the wire to send commands. It still transmits command by wireless means and only uses the cable for charging. I've played my 360 many times with my controller hooked to my PC so it can charge up.
Also, with the play and charge kit you don't need to find yet another wall outlet like you do with the other battery charger kit.

That play and charge kit had been the most confusing accessory for most consumers when the 360 first came out. They had no idea how in the hell to decipher something as simple as 'play and charge'... I mean for the love of God, it was called the 'play and charge'! As said, the wire doesn't do anything but charge. You still transmit wirelessly, have fun!

Is a hdd necessary for game updates? Might pick up a core system from microcenter for the rebate and will probably hold off on the hdd for now until a definite date for a larger hdd is released. I know you can use a memory unit to get online, but I'm wondering if game updates can be saved on that.
Also, there shouldn't be an issue with having 2 systems logged on live from the same location right? I figure as long as the speed of the connection is up to it and they're hooked up to the router, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hi
I saw this thread pop up on the list of referrers. Hopefully, you are missing much - the emag is written by professional journos and we've had lots of positive feedback.
To solve the two different problems you seem to be having, I think the solution is the same, and we do state it on the site: http://www.gamerzines.com/about-us.html
You need to have Adobe Reader v6 or above. In the first case, I would guess Adobe Reader 5, which isn't capable of displaying the complex nature of the emag.
In the case of OSX preview, no that won't work. The Apple PDF preview doesn't use the full Adobe Reader and as such, I don't believe it can display PDF 1.5, which are cross-platform, but you do need the full version of Adobe Reader (free), not the Mac's built-in PDF viewer.
As long as you have Adobe Reader 6 or above, the emag should work fine.
Let me know how you get on and what you think of it.

Oooh, good question. Linux. Now that's stretching my technical knowledge a bit far as I don't tend to go much further than fumbling around in the CLI in Linux. OK, it should work, but there are some dependencies that automatically ready in Windows and most of the time ready on the Mac, but I don;t know about Linux as I've not seen the version 7 Reader.
Anyway, the renditions that the emag will play are some Flash based ones for animated screenshots, and I would hope that Linux's Reader can deal with those if Flash is installed. Any Flash player from version 5 onwards should be enough.
The second type of rendition is harder and can fall over on some, but not all, Macs even. That's the videos in the ads, which are compressed in WMV format (I know, I know, but we had to choose one file format that was likely to be available on most peoples machines, and unfortunately, that is Windows Media). I don't know if there is a Linux player that supports WMV?
Hope this all helps.

Thank you for joining our discussion. Yes, I am only using 5.0, so I will upgrade to 7.0 in the near future.
Good luck with your EMag.

Thanks! Version 8 of Reader is coming soon, and is supposed to offer some pretty neat new features. Haven't seen it yet, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for.

Thanks, I'll have to check my flash version. I have the windows codecs installed so the wmv files shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry for the slam. I just downloaded Acrobat (I've never needed it previously) and it looks MUCH better, pretty much a magazine layout on my screen. :)
I couldn't get the multi-media clips to play but that might be an Acrobat issue.

Picked up the 3 BK games this evening and hope to be Big Bumpin online after my wife and i finish watching DaVinci Code.
edit: Be sure to ask, some BK's will let you buy all 3 games on one combo.

Not a problem. I can live with people not liking it (well, just about) when they've seen it, but I'm just trying to make sure everyone gets a decent experience using it.
Yeah, the OSX PDF business is not widely publicised and I only found out about it when working on this. It's something to do with the fact thatAdobe only released the PDF specs for PDF 1.0 (I believe) when it made it open, so third party viewers can only support that far, and all the really fun stuff in PDF didn't happen until after that.
Glad you got it working enough to see it looking nice.

^^^Very funny.
I bought a 360 about a month ago and was wondering if I could still purchase an extended warranty. Do I have to buy it from the store I bought it or can I buy one from Microsoft or some other place?

If you need a wireless 360 adapter, J&R.com (http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4144709#productTabDetails) has it for $19.99 It's currently out of stock though, so signing up for the email alert may be in order.

Just got a 360 yesterday with some gamerush credit. Can't wait to play it on my dad's plasma when I go home for thanksgiving. I signed up for xbox live today with an old 1 year subsciption card for the original xbox that I bought a long time ago on clearance at target.
I already bought Geometry Wars with the free 1600 points I got recently, and I think Zuma is going to be my next arcade purchase after trying some of the demos.
I think I am going to wait on playing the games I have until I play them on an HDTV in a few days.
Loving it so far, I really like how incorporated XBOX live is with the system, as far as playing demos and getting arcade games.

Not a bad choice. Zuma is VERY addicting and consumed more time (30hours) than most of the retail games I've played. Definitely one of my favorites.
If you like Zuma and have a DS check out Magnetica, it is the game that Zuma ripped off, and a much better game overall.

Zuma was released on PC by PopCap Games in 2003. Magnetica didn't show up on the DS until this year. I think the ripping off goes the other way around.

Magnetica feels like a cheap version of Zuma, that said, Magnetic is the official follow-up to Puzz Loop which is the game Zuma ripped off.
The Japanese developer Mitchell Corporation claims Zuma is a clone of their 1998 arcade game, Puzz Loop. In an interview [1], it was suggested that Mitchell contacted PopCap and threatened to sue for intellectual property infringement, but so far no legal action seems to have taken place. Mitchell re-released this design in 2006 as the Nintendo DS game Magnetica.
So, you can look at it however you want :).

There is a program you can add to your PC if you are using MCE. I think this is one of the misses with the 360. I think web browsing should have been tops in their to do list, hell even if it had the limited browsing capabilities of Webtv, it would be better than nothing. Hopefully web browsing and a special 360 wireless keyboard w/ built in mouse is just around the corner, and not only available with Vista.

I want to say that (of what I read) I liked your content. But the manner in which it is delivered is questionable.
There is NO reason to use Adobe. As you can see, it creates nothing but headaches and it makes it take minutes, if not longer, to actually load your page and see your content. The web is not a magazine. Magazines aren't designed the way websites are. Websites shouldn't be designed the way magazines are. In short, PDFs cause a bunch of headaches for users (http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20010610.html).
There is no reason, after seeing a page of your magazine, that your website can't look like that WITHOUT having to use PDF. PDF is designed for documents that are to be printed, not for on-screen reading. For example, take a look at another magazine-style site like The Escapist (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/issue/71/10). Their layout is still annoying (although less so).
Formatting your site in this way takes control away from users, which makes users angry. The multi-column format goes against how the web is used. Even newspapers like the International Herald Tribune have learned their lessons and made their stories in single column format.
I like your content and I want to read it, but when it's difficult to do so I'm not likely to keep coming back to it.

I'll chime in on the e-mag also I don't use Adobe either on my Windows machine. I started using Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php) after reading about it in Maximum PC and have never looked back. It displays the e-zine but not 100% so I downloaded the most up to date version (2.0) and added java extensions. I can see the pages but each one has an annoying 'Close this window' box towards the top left. When you try to close it I get an error - <U>TypeError : this.getOCG's is not a function, Posistion:line 0,</U>, and it does not play the videos.
From what I've seen it looks nice, reminds me of the European magazines I pick up at Barnes & Noble every once in a while.

Just a heads up that the 3 Burger King XBox 360 games are available now at Burger King for $3.99 each. They are Sneak King, Pocket Bike Racer and Big Bumpin'.
The 2 in bold actually got decent reviews from IGN.
I'm going to pick these up because 2 of them have online play and you probably can't go wrong for around $4 each.

Is there one website out there that has a comprehensive list of upcoming games and the date they are to be released?
Every crappy website ive seen (including xbox.com) has pages and pages of games with ureleased titles mixed in with already released games. And games with NO date thrown in among those. Just a list with names and dates is all I want.
any help?

I played the demo and thought it was pretty good. I did NOT like the multiplayer mode they gave us in the demo (at least what I played). It was a retrieve/protect the briefcase. The gameplay seems pretty fun though. I may pick it up eventually.

Now that does sound fun.
Aren't there a couple of other games out, full 360 titles, that have a similar achievement that can only be gotten by beating someone that already has it?
I'll definetly check out the demo. And if it is as fun as it sounds, I'll be paying the points.

I thought I had read it somewhere. I have only found it in one newer game, but it is the same basic concept. Though the one in Small Arms sounds like you get it just by playing in the same game. The one below, you have to win.
Tony Hawk Project 8 has a similar achievement.
Beat a developer 50
Win a skate session against a member of the Project 8 development team, or someone who already has.

:hscratch: All it is, is a variant of Capture the Flag.
My friends and I loved the demo. 3 of the 4 of us had never played a Rainbow Six game and all are thinking about picking it up based off the demo. It seems to be a game that bridges the gap between a run & gun style(Halo) and the full on "stop and pop"(Gears) style.
We are looking forward to tackling the story mode 4-player co-op.

I have my 360 connected to my PC monitor. I use an audio adapter that looks like this:
Plug the red and white audio cables into one end and the other end into the back of your PC speakers. You can get these adapters for a couple dollars at Radio Shack.

Does anyone have the camera and Totemball? Any thoughts on it?
I'm considering getting the camera to check out the "gesture-based" gaming with it. Totemball (full version) is currently a free download, so that made me more interested. But if anyone knows if it is cool/sucks, I'd love to hear your experiences. I know it's probably a novelty, but if it's fun enough, I'll probably go ahead and grab a camera.
