Also, is this set in any way "limited"? I'm debating it for the DDD sale, but since I don't think I'll be diving into the episodes again any time soon, I'm considering waiting and putting my $$$ to better use.

You have no idea: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/bio.p...reviewID=23188

I'm still waiting for it to arrive, though.

Upcoming Reviews:
Homicide Life on the Street - Complete Series Megaset
Six Feet Under - The Complete Series Gift Set
The West Wing - The Complete Series Collection
How soon might we expect these? I'm considering all of them for purchase during the DDD sale (ending in 2 days).

The only one I have in my possession at present is The West Wing, and we're talking over 100 discs between the 3, so I don't see how they'd be out before the end of the DDD sale. It's really unfortunate timing, I know. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to try to answer them when I have the discs.

In the meantime, DVD Talk has already reviewed the individual seasons. I don't imagine the complete box will be much different than a sum of those parts.

Now das, you know that we expect nothing less than fully-detailed, individual reviews of each and every episode, right?

Correct. It appears to be the exact same sets, placed in a new box with a few other goodies, according to the pictures I've seen.

$143.xx at DDD is a steal. I wouldn't hestiate if you're thinking about pulling the trigger.

Will DVD Talk still be here in 2032?

West Wing Complete Series Packaging

Curious, from the pictures I've seen of the packaging, it looks like the discs are shoved into cardboard sleeves, half a dozen discs per season into a "file folder" for each season.

Is this accurate? I specifically waited for the complete series set, since I only own season 1, but this is a deal breaker for me. Storing discs this way are guaranteed to scratch the discs every time you remove/replace them.

Thanks for any insight!

Yes, that's accurate, and it's pretty much the only complaint I have with an otherwise fantastic set. Almost every single disc has blemishes on the data side. Still, I've yet to have an issue playing one.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Seems to be somewhat of an epidemic of late. Alias Complete Series has the same issue, from what I can tell at least some discs of Six Feet Under CS are affected... Best I can tell, Homicide CS is not... but I already own all seasons of that series.

Oh well, WW/6 Feet/Alias are HD shows, so this will just give me a justification for waiting until released in that format. (assuming the studios don't package them the same way!)

It really blows my mind, that these sets, so obviously targeted to "collectors" (who are rabid for quality and packaging) drop the ball on something so simple as this...

The season sets are identical to the original sets. There's nothing else really different with this set aside from the packaging and a little booklet that contains the two soundtrack CDs and bios of the characters telling what happened to them after the series ended. The set is definately the way to go, but there's nothing included sans the packaging that different from the original releases.
