This is Pt. III of our Xbox Live schedule, I assume the first one got too long. Please remeber to check back to this page for future updates and a general feel for what will be the game to play on any given day.
Part II, here (http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=474780)
The Schedule as it stands is as follows.......
No set schedule presently
It seems this thread has turned into a kind of gathering place to garner interest on each particular night. Which is probably the best thing since there are so many games out currently.
Start Times are 7-8 P.M. EST to whenever people stop playing.
XBL Gamertag list by Golucky http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=425666
Use the gamertag list to send friend invites if people don't have their gamertags in their sigs. Make sure to let people know that you are from DVDtalk when sending friend request.
If anyone has suggestions for changes to the schedule, please post them here, also we can discuss the prior nights events here and that sort of thing. As a game lacks in popularity and new games come along I will change this list accordingly, so let me know when you all think a certain night is no longer necessary for a specific game and we will replace it with more popular title. If there is a title that everyone thinks we don't get to play enough maybe we can even dedicate a second night to it.
Also if anyone has Ideas for events and things that we could have that would be cool.

I'm gonna say(again) we need a Gears of War Day,and is there gonna be a game today/tonight/Friday/tomorrow(I say this because its after 2:00 am here)?
Oh and can someone that has beaten GOW go through it with me? I suck on story mode :( That way Both I & whoever goes through with me can get gamerscore points(Me-Beating Acts,Whoever-The "Dom...." points) Mostly because if I don't find someone I will never be able to beat the game :( I have tried going in with random people and they are ASSHOLES!)
Whoever might want to help me,post here or send me a Message on LIVE.

I wanted to get it back up and to the top as the other one was closed, and no one had gotten to it yet.
I'm sure Martin won't mind that I posted it. ;)
Besides, I was partly responsible, with others as well, for the schedule concept in the first place. ;)
It wasn't solely Martin's brainchild. ;)
But he did do a good job of the implementation.
How about Tuesdays and Thursdays on the Schedule for GOW?
Monday and Friday for COD3?

Of course not man, we had some great games too. I just wish I didn't suck so much when I play with you guys. It's a little embarrassing because you all are so much better then me right now. Although we did do pretty well on that noisy ass train map when I used that turret to distract those guys while you snuck up from behind and snuffed them out. Sucks that whenever we play, we can't seem to get a full room. I guess we play too late for some folks. Then again, if I try to play earlier, most people seem to prefer COD3 anyways.

It's not the headset. There's a problem with Gears where if you enter a player match midmatch, via invite, then you can hear them but they can't hear you. The only way is to enter it before the first match starts, as far as I know.

Yeah, it was pretty awesome. They are not kidding when they call it Hardcore difficulty - some parts of Act 3 were brutal! I'm definitely up for continuing co-op mode with you, but I think I need a max of 1 act at a time. My wife was not happy with my marathon late-night gaming session.

Every night should be COD3 night. Last night I was with a group of people playing capture the flag and the battles were amazing. Armor support. Air strikes. Flags going back and forth between sides. Both sides were maxed out. I think that's 12 per side isn't it? People were actually working as a team as opposed to just running around shooting people. It was epic. I went back and played COD2 for a little bit and it's dog shit in comparison.

IMO, COD3 is just missing elements that I enjoyed from COD2 like:
Lobbies
The sniper rifle that worth it
Kill-CAM
Tons of grenades that you could pick up from dead folk
Grenade parties
grenades that will actually bounce.
It looks like we may need both COD2 and COD3 nights.

I know he'll have me. I hate COD3 and I'm planning on dumping it for GEARS and then picking it back up when it's cheap just to play the single player.
Like lucky said.. I can't stand:
* Playing CTF every freaking game blows donkey
* Grenades suck. You only start with one and you can't pick up dead peoples
* You have to wait like 30 seconds to pick up dead people's weapons
* No lobby
* Maps are SO big that if you just want to play DM and only have around 8 you have to walk around for 5 minutes to find someone.
* No killcam
* Sniper rifle blows
They should have called COD3 BF3 instead.. It's basically Battlefied and not COD..

See, those are some of the reasons I will only play COD3.
In COD2, it was always a game of DM that was a snoozer, camping sniper fest.
No matter what map or weapons you may have to pick from, everyone always picked the sniper rifle and the game was extremely boring.
I could of swore that the nights I played COD3 I walked over dead peoples bodies and I had more grenades. Or am I confusing that with Single player?
The killcam was a neat novelty item. But was it really anything significant in the game? Sure, it showed you where you were shot from. But, do you think when you respawn, the person is going to be still sitting there for you to kill them? They'd have already moved and you'd have to find them again before they find you. That is the same way it is in COD3.
The lobby I can forgive. The system in place keeps the games moving as long as people are ready to play them. You can invite people in mid game. And during the games, while you are looking at the stats, the game is counting down to starting. If the host has voting turned on, you can influence the next gametype and/or map.
Everygame hasn't been CTF, at least the nights I've played. It seems to have been mixed up between CTF, Bases/Territories, and DM. Granted most games have been team based so that you can use the classes special ability. But there have been some free-for-all DM games.
This game lends itself very well to playing in a team and trying to come up with strategy. Which is all the appeal for me.

True enough. I won't deny that it was a popular game.
It just was not for me.
Now COD3 is a ton of fun and I honestly can see it filling the void at this point until Halo 3 comes out.
The game plays more to the style I like in that there are ample opportunities for teamwork.
Hopefully people keep playing it because I am liking the games nights that have been COD3 so far.

 I've played as the sniper and I had to move otherwise: people would come after me (thank you very much killcam), or my killing count would remain low.
Vryce, maybe you didn't play with the COD2 regulars? Because I remember getting killed by shotguns, machine guns (Prime) and goLucky's all time favorite "grenade party".
I like COD3 as well, but to be honest, all I've played since I got it on Thursday have been CTF and teams. It was not until yesterday when we started playing DMs as well.
Vryce
11-14-06, 01:57 PM
I played with the regulars in the beginning when COD2 was new. I grew tired of all the sniping and camping. And it seemed that 9 games out of 10 were always a free-for-all and those bore me to death. I stopped playing shortly thereafter and never went back to it.
xmiyux
11-14-06, 02:16 PM
I'm not as much a fan of the free-for-all DMs in CoD3 due to not being able to use the class specific abilities. I also strongly dislike the games the other night where there was no respawn timer. It made medics not very useful and made CTF/HQ style games even harder since the opposing team respawned immediately.
kakihara1
11-14-06, 02:18 PM
Well in all fairness when COD2 was new it sucked ass. With the Patch however the game became absolute greatness and the regulars (about 12 of us) couldn't get enough and basically played every night not just on the designated ones, hell we even picked up a couple people just as we were rolling into COD3's launch.
When we first started playing COD2 regularly there was a huge number of people using snipers only but as we all got better we learned that using the sniper all the time wasn't the way to win. My personal favorite weapon is the trenchgun in COD2 as most of you know. Which is the polar opposite to the sniper rifle.
Awesome things in COD2:
Kill Cam
Grenades
Great weapon balance (purely opinion)
communication/lobby system
Breaking GoLucky's head open with the butt of my gun
Things that suck in COD2
Only room for 8
This isn't to say that I don't like COD3 cause I think it's an awesome game. But what is truly missing in COD3 is that loss in communication. Sure you can talk to your teammates during an objective based game but there is no way to sit and shoot the shit with everyone for a few minutes between games after which you would be randomly placed in teams or we would play a FFA gametype and everyone would be able to talk to each other. I guess what I'm saying is that COD3 seems to be a bit more of a cold experience and not nearly as personal. Everything else I can deal with but I'll definitely need to keep COD2 in the rotation as I loved playing that game.

well one thing we seem to all be able to agree on is that GOW is a blast. So that requires a day. Even the guys who find COD3 to be inferior for the most part still think it's a great game so that deserves a day. COD2 is still quite relavent per the last several posts so it deserves a day as well.
We can argue which is the better game till we're blue in the face but the fact is that we have plenty of good titles to play and with the duplicate days designated for the same games I'd say we have plenty of space for each so long as no one is twisting anyone's arm saying "no you can't play COD2" I should think we'd be able to find a suitable time for each title.
Add in Rainbow Six Vegas, FEAR, Viva Pinata and whatever else is coming down the pike and there should be something for everyone.

Too bad Viva Pinata isn't a multiplayer game in the way that Animal Crossing DS was. I've read that you can interact with other people by sending packages and such. But you can't actually visit any one elses garden. :(
That was the one hope I had for the game was that it would be similar to AC:DS

I also miss COD2 and can't wait to go back to it. COD3 is just meh imo. I don't hate it, but it just feels like Battlefield 2.5.
And I'm also not too crazy about all the CTF type of games either. I find myself getting bored really fast due to the repetitivness. The only time I've enjoyed myself in COD3 is with the deathmatch/team deatmatch games. And to be fair I've seen loads of people "camping" in COD3, proably more so then in any of the COD2 games I've ever played. And when people do camp in COD2, the kill cam gives them away and everyone goes after them. So its not that big of a deal.
However GOW is amazing. I will never tire of that game.
Edit: Oh and I'm excited for Rainbow 6 because of the co-op.

I will admit to tiring of the CTF style games and prefer the team DM ones. As long as there is a decent respawn time i'm happy :) especially on that map with all the tanks.
I have seen a good deal more camping in 3 versus 2 due to the lack of a kill cam. Karma kills also don't play as large a role in this one.

They are just whiny little punks. The third one is awesome, the classes make team games incredible and far more interesting than anything in 2. The plain slayer free-for-alls aren't as fun in this one due to no class skills, ginormous maps, and the sniper requiring a modicum of skill now.

I've gone through ACT I and half of ACT II on hardcore on co-op, and I'm in the middle of ACT III on casual right now. It is going to take a lot of play to get those Dom achievements so anyone that wants help on getting those, I'm down for it.

Whiny little punks? Yea, that's it. What it comes down to is it's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT game... Not even close to COD2.. They didn't make COD3 BETTER then COD2 they made it totally different. So you see a whole bunch of people that didn't play 2 now playing 3 because it's their type of game now.
xmiyux whines about everything in every game so you're gonna have that ;)
Also, I totally agree with Doc West in that there is a TON more camping in 3 then in 2 do to the killcam being gone and the maps being huge. I know the few times I played (and it was most likely CTF or the like ;)) that every time I got killed it was by a sniper..

I'm not sure how that happened :( I think we split from COD3 and formed two rooms. I got an invite from Jalth and joined his room then I got an invite from you. I wasn't paying attention after a few minutes but then alex said hey did you guys send invites to the other guys and I was like hmm I thought they were already in here :S anyhow then we got Prime and I think west in the room and it was full. Later though we ended up splitting into two rooms again as Tbird had just gotten the game and wanted to play some multiplayer but our room was full so we then split into two smaller rooms again.

FWIW, a different company made COD3, which is why it is so different. The team that did COD2 is working on COD4. Which is why they can pump them out so quick.

I dont know what it is, but online GOW can get a little tiring after a while--NOT BORING but a little exhausting. Can it be considered repetitive without being boring? Anyway it seems that every match is an exercise in deploying the same tactic of circling your opponent then closing for the kill. After 30 or so matches it can get kind of a chore. Occasionally if it comes down to 1 vs 1 you can snipe each other until one gets a headshot. I do like the game a lot and single player has tons more variety. I just feel like I cant play multiplayer all night like I could other games.
kakihara1
11-15-06, 11:12 AM
Prime I'm the exact opposite I could easily play the game all night because of my frustration with getting the same tactic down correctly. All too often I find myself in the middle of three enemies who seem to be fighting over which gets to deliver the death blow. It's frustrating as hell and I love it. The only thing that's discouraging is that if you make a mistake you're probably going to pay for it and then you sit in the lobby for minutes sometimes waiting to try again. I think the better we all get at the game the longer the rounds will take to play, and the longer I'll be sitting in the lobby waiting to try again. :( But damn the game is addicting. :D
KurrptSenate
11-15-06, 11:16 AM
what kind of matches do you play Ferris
If you opponents' tactics are being repetitive, you would know where they are headed, what weapons they favor, and you game plan should change accordingly. I can't say that happens in out matches at all.
If I know a team is going straight for the sniper rifle, thats the move our entire team makes.
I play this game like a chess match really.

Do you have GOW or plan on getting it? The reason why most of the COD2 people don't play COD3 so much is that it is so different then COD2. Most of us don't like the changes, so we play GOW instead. I myself can only tolerate so much of COD3 before I tire of it. Gears on the other hand, I could play all night. And I don't really see how the forum was torn apart today. All it did was give us some great material to joke about durning the games.
Oh and as for the 8 person max on Gears, we seemed to work that out pretty well tonight. We had multiple rooms going for a while and then we all merged into one as the night went on and people dropped. So nobody was left out...not even Deftones.
