I got a a coupon book from Meijer with my Sunday paper this morning. For the record, I am in the Chicago area (but the coupons seem to be valid chain-wide). There is a 30%-off coupon on a 30GB iPod (regular price is $249.99) that is valid only on this Friday, November 10, 2006.
Edit: It looks like the website has the ads, but has taken out the coupons. You might be able to pick up the coupon book at your local store, or check the Sunday papers.

Do you have the ability to scan in the coupon?

I don't have the ability right now, but I'll try to get it at work tomorrow.
Your link didn't work so I found the thread it was in. http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=362434&highlight=ipod

The scan doesn't show the back of the coupon which is where the UPC is located (I was going through Sunday's ads and ran across it).

Allright, I stopped at a Meijer again tonight and asked the manager of that area some questions. What I found out was that the coupon was not a typo, they'll have more stock by that day (hopefully), and that the coupon is stackable with the in-store Procter & Gamble coupons.
The Procter & Gamble coupons are in-store coupons which work as follows: Through mid December, when you buy $30 worth of Procter & Gamble items you'll get a $10 off coupon good towards any iPod or iPod accessory $79 or higher. Spend $50 and you'll get a $20 off coupon. The coupons are stackable.
Tide is on sale for $5, the smaller boxes of Cascade are on sale for $2, Charmin toilet paper is on sale for $6, and there's quite a few other Procter & Gamble items. You can make it to $50, just stock up a little on basic supplies. Oh, and you know why Eskimos wash their clothes in Tide, right? Because it's too cold out-Tide!
Also, there were stacks of the flyers with the coupons at the front door, I picked up an extra one. I'll send the 30% off coupon to the first person to email me with their address (just ask for it if you really plan on using it).
Question - are there more than one style of 30 MB iPods? I've seen some with a picture of U2 on the screen, the ones on the shelf at the store I was at just had a menu (though one of them had a picture of the Pirates of the Carribean). Thanks!

The picture of U2 may have been for the U2 Special Edition iPod, with a red click-wheel and signatures on the back. It is priced about $50 higher than the standard black/white 30 GB iPods. The U2 iPod also comes with extra features to be used on iTunes, although I'm not too sure.
The picture with Pirates may have been a promo for iTunes now carrying Disney films and such.
Most Meijer stores are open 24 hours, for those who are worried about low stock. I stopped by the Naperville, IL store this afternoon and saw several iPods available.

Do you think it would be possible to buy the ipod before hand and have an adjustment made on Friday, assuming you have the coupon?

Just in case Meijer runs out of Ipods, does anyone know if Wal Mart will price match this coupon? It simply says 30% off 30 GB Ipod with Coupon on Friday, 11/10/

Friday is tomorrow. Anybody doing this?
I was thinking about picking one up since it looks like I could make $20 or so on ebay with it. But I haven't decided if it was worth the risk of having a chargeback through Paypal at a later date...
I also have a $20 off coupon (the procter & gamble deal I mentioned above), I can always use that on a shuffle or a nano or something.

I just got back from Meijer here in the SW Chicago burbs. I arrived about 1120pm and figured I could pick me up one, but just as I got to the door there was someone putting on a paper on the door that said "No raincheck on 30gb IPOD. Limited quantaties. Sorry for the inconvience"
So I asked the CSR how many DID they have and are they going on sale at 12:01am? He said they will be on sale BUT there were only 5 on stock and there was at least 15 people in line. Well...so much for that. I went back to the electroinics department anyway to check and sure enough there was a line. In fact...I overheard a couple of workers chatting saying that there was indeed only 5 to sell.
So much for that...

Here's how it worked at my local Meijer (Cincinnati/Ridge Ave): The manager told me that each store only had had between 3-6 iPods (30-GB). This particular store gave everybody a numbered ticket as they walked up to the electronics counter. At midnight, they drew three numbers and those people got the iPod and the discount. At the Cincinnati/Ridge store, the manager was nice enough to allow the early arrivers (including myself) to take 30% any of the other iPod available; but they were all Nanos with only 8, 4 or 2 GB each, so I passed.

0 for 6 in my area. Some managers saying they only got in 1, maybe 1 made it to the shelves.
Pretty shitty, I have been wanting one for some time, when I go to get one, the student discount disappears :(
Oh well.

I stopped by tonight, the guy said they were sold out at midnight. He said that people started lining up about 8pm the night before. This store had also extended the 30% sale to the 2GB Nano and 4GB Nano. I thought about it but decided to not do it.

I tried to get the manager to use the coupon on the 80GB or the nano, and none would.
