Examples of South Park Politics
Would anyone mind posting examples of Right Wing beliefs/politics on South Park? My co-workers are claiming that Matt and Trey are extremely left wing and I'm unable to come up with examples that show they are wrong.

It is my impression that they espouse Libertarian principals on South Park.
Definitely not Left Wing, but hardly Right Wing.
I was going to point out that "Big Gay Al" moment from "Cripple Fight." Al's whole problem was that he loved Scouts and felt it was their right as a private club to set guidelines on who could join.

If you pay attention to the morals of their stories, they almost always tend to be right-leaning or libertarian. I'm reminded of their "gay scouting" episode, where Big Gay Al fights for the right to be a scoutmaster, and wins... only to decide on his own that "forcing the Boy Scouts to accept gays" is the *real* intolerance. Um, yeah.
In Team America they take potshots at everyone, but the moral of the story is basically a defense of current American anti-terrorism politics--America has to "act like a dick" because "the world is full of assholes"...

Episode 713 takes aim at Hollywood director Rob Reiner and the anti-smoking movement. The movement – and especially Reiner – is portrayed as, and called, fascist, controlling, and deceitful, while big tobacco is portrayed as honest, hardworking, and well-rooted in American history.
In Episode 614, political correctness is condemned. When the boys (the main characters) refuse to tolerate their intolerable homosexual teacher, their parents take them to the Museum of Tolerance, where tolerance of everyone (except tobacco smokers) is taught. When this fails, the boys are sent to a gulag called "Death Camp of Tolerance," where they are forced at gunpoint to produce arts and crafts that don’t discriminate along the lines of race and sexual orientation.
In Episode 301, the boys travel to the Costa Rican rain forest as members of an environmentalist choir. While there, they learn how dangerous and deadly the natural world can be – as a snake kills their tour guide and aboriginals kidnap them. Upon their return to civilization, the boys put on a musical performance that admonishes smug first-world environmental activists.

The "hate crime" episode is a great example of their "right wing" politics. Basically they say that all violent crimes are "hate crimes" and if you bring the race of the victims/perpetrators into the equation, that is also racist.
That's just one example. There's tons more.
Oh here's another: they HATE Barbara Streisand and rip into her "high and mighty" attitude on the commentaries and episodes. In Team America, they exposed Michael Moore as being a "giant socialist weasel".
You may want to have your co-workers define "left wing" and "right wing", because I'm thinking 1) they never have seen South Park, or 2) they don't know what those terms mean.
That's just one example. There's tons more.

Here's a google cache link to an NYT opinion piece that says Matt and Trey have turned away from the GOP. I don't think they were ever really in the GOP camp to begin with. Anyway, I'm mainly posting it because of a couple of other good quotes:

Last night's was another classic. I guess it depends on where you're coming from, but they kind of ripped on atheists and the theory of evolution (we're descendants of a retarded fish who fucked some sort of squirel bunny up the ass).
Yeah, they rip on everyone and it depends on your perspective, but somehow I don't think a "left wing" show would've explained evolution the way Ms Garrison did last night!

I'm a staunch believer in the theory of evolution and that's something I would probably come up with to make creationists/ID people look silly.
