This is obviously a price mistake, and it seems very likely they won't honor it, but some of you may want to take a chance.

Amazon marketplace seller Caiman has the Ape Heads for $5.92 (they retail for $179.99).

Ape Heads! (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000E6ESG2/ref=pd_ms_d_1/102-0610788-7251340?ie=UTF8&condition=all)

Thanks.

It will probably just take a long time to get your 5 dollars plus shipping refunded. This company is not one of the better on amazon. But take your chances if you like,.

Sorry I do not trust giving credit information to a company with a PO Box address listed in the British Virgin Islands. Maybe I’m paranoid, but I’ll pass.

You give your credit card info to amazon not caiman.

That's true. Plsu caiman is a huge DVD seller. Your order might just slip through. If not, Amazon guarantees the amount paid.

Caiman used to be much better. They advertise a lot of stuff they don't have, and never get. You wind up getting your refund a loooong time after they charge your credit card.

Their satisfaction rating has slipped to 90%, which really blows.

wonder why its not available @ amazon anymore. buying it through amazon would have been at least a money back guarantee situation whereas buying it through their own site doesn't.

they only accept amazon marketplace payment. that's where you would be taken to, from their website, if it was available.

I think I've bought from caiman in the past. I'm not going to risk it though cause I never have luck with these mistakes.

caiman is the worst marketplace seller on amazon, take from someone who knows.

I'm not sure why "Beware?" was added to the title of my post. Like I said, it's probably unlikely they will honor the price. However, there really is no risk. Caiman is notorious for listing stuff they don't have (particularly out of print items). I'll sometimes take a chance if the price is really good. I've gotten a few deals, but other times they will contact me to say they don't have the item and refund me. I think one time I got sick of waiting and cancelled the order on their website, and it was quick and painless. The nice thing about Amazon, is if can't get a refund from the seller, you can file an A-Z Claim and get a quick refund from Amazon.

ive bought from caiman before and always got my dvds ,,, hes legitNobody is disputing that they are legit. We're just saying that they advertise a lot of stuff they don't have in stock, and never get. You wait around forever, until one day a cancellation e-mail arrives with apologies and a refund.

Amazon Sellers and half.com folks should not advertise anything they do not physically have in hand at the time of the listing. These are supposed to be "used" items, despite the fact that they may be pristine and still in the shrinkwrap.

I have the same order status. I definitely am not banking on it actually working out, but here's to hoping. As far as I am concerned, this order has very little downside with a potentially big upside.

But isn't there a limit on how many times one can do that? I remember reading 5.

cgray

5 is correct... for the lifetime of your account. kind of strange, but i guess some people need a limit.

also: i'm trying to pick this up through caiman, and when i press "confirm cart" or "submit cart", it takes me to an error page. anyone else having this problem? is there another way to check out? i use IE, never had any difficulties...

Please let me know when your monkey arrives.

My monkey has already stated that he's feeling somewhat cooped up in my apartment and that he wishes to congregate with more of his kind with the intent and purpose of playing monkey games.

Basically, my monkey wants to meet YOUR monkey.

I just checked my order status again and things aren't looking so good now. The On the way to you! Estimated Delivery 10/31/2006 wording has been deleted, and there is a picture of a box with a line through it. No email stating it's been cancelled, but I'm not holding out much hope :(

I remember months ago I got an email from amazon saying they were going to start a new way of selling things where you would send what you had to amazon and when there was a buyer, they would send it to them.

I wonder what ever happened to that idea.

That would be physically imposible, considering the quantity of sellers on the Amazon Marketplace. There is no storage room big enough to carry all the items of all the sellers.

g
10-30-06, 11:33 PM
They did email about this saying it was in beta stage with select sellers. It would be stored at amazons wherehouse. It didnt sound good to me because amazon said they would charge per square foot for storage until it sold. And to ship the goods. The only positive was they handled customer service and returns.

BuckNaked2k
10-31-06, 08:32 AM
I believe they do this now for a few select sellers. Sometimes when you click on "buy it used" you can scroll down and some sellers have "Fulfilled by Amazon.com" next to the item.

This is only for mega-sellers like Caiman. Carrying inventory is $$$, and the ultimate business model is just providing the conduit for member-member transactions, a la eBay, half.com, Amazon sellers, etc.

Ah, oh well. I only said that since I saw that you posted in this thread earlier then put yours up for sale. Not to bash you or anything of course, just to give other people here hope that they might receive their monkey man.

I do know that some people actually got it in the DDD price mistake.

thejester
11-10-06, 12:45 AM
Reason I asked is that I got mine.

I didn't put the order in thru Amazon directly, but thru Caimans' web site which uses Amazons' checkout cart. I really didn't expect it to work since the thread was already labeled "DEAD".

Since I didn't get in on the DDD mistake, I'm lucky I guess to get in on this one?
