Not exactly. They were B2G1 back then -- mid. February, and the prices were $9.48 each.

Pretty sucktastic, except the Smokey and the Bandit SE.
EDIT: I notice they've raised the price and S&tB. When the sale started it was $7.98 like the other films, but now it's $10.57. Still a great price, but I'm glad I got my order in early.

I think people are getting spoiled after the Paramount B1G1F sale where many DVD were $3 each. Now everything is expected to be that cheap.
I believe the studios are responsible at least in part for these sales. This one is for Universal product. If the price is too expensive I guess Universal is to blame. I remember when getting a $15 list DVD for less than the usual sale price of $10 was considered a bargain . Times have changed. Here's hoping HD DVD and Blue Ray DVD get to be this cheap soon.

That is a factor, but the main reason people are saying this is a mediocre sale is that DDD had a similar promo back in January with 20% lower prices. At the time, I picked up Black Angel, Criss Cross, and This Gun for Hire for $18.96; those same titles are $23.94 in this sale.

Could also be bargain burnout. There has been so much on sale lately with the DDD sales, google check out bonus, some good prices at Amazon, family video $5 off deal etc. How much do people have to spend on DVDs? When do you find time to watch all that you have bought. To tell the truth I did not mind getting my orders cancelled on the family video sale. I have plenty to watch. Still I like the excitement of getting a bargain. Sign of an addict I guess.

DVDs are definitely being devalued in my mind based on recent sales and the launch of the HD formats.
I have not jumped into the HD formats yet, but I won't buy DVDs of new or recent movies, things like M:I III, when I know a superior HD version exists or will soon be released. I'd rather wait till I jump into HD (probably some time in 2007), or at best rent (which I rarely have time to do).
I still buy DVDs for older stuff at a decent price (like the Bogart box set, e.g.) that we probably won't see on HD for a long time, but I have a hard time spending a lot on DVDs.
I picked up 4 westerns in the Paramount B1G1F sale (two for $7.84, two for $6.03) that I would not have paid $6 or $7 each for. A couple years ago I would have considered that a great price.

i have a theory...
ddd is prepping us for their long-awaited 20% sale. they are showing us unspectacular prices on this current sale so that when the 20% sale starts, we will go plain nuts.
dont know about you folk, but im nuts already :nopanic:

you don't have to be.the DDD 20% sale is the most overrrated sale online.they sneak up the prices by 5-10%, so it's basically a 10% sale.
don't get me wrong,i love DDD when they make B1G1F kinda deals.

In the past few years I have probably spent close to $1,000 dollars at the DDD 20% off sales. I let pretty much every non-Columbia House title I want accumulate in my cart. Nothing I have purchased has ever gone up in price during the 20% off sale.
