What was the first game you ever completed?
I know for me it goes back to the early 80s and it was on a Sinclair Spectrum 48k. I completed Underwurlde. This game (along with a hell of a lot of Spectrum games) was completely original and stands the test of time. I can see how games from this old computer are still being ripped off to this day.....Bully for example is just an updated version of Skool daze / Back to Skool. I have never enjoyed a games platform as much as i did the old Speccy.

The first game I ever completed was Super Mario Bros on the NES. I had an Atari 2600 before that, and as far as I can remember, there was not any game that ever actually ended before Super Mario Bros came along. Every game was just an infinite loop until you lost all your lives. I remember when I first played Mario, I figured it would be the same way, especially since every King Koopa level ended the same with Toad telling you the princess was in another castle. I thought that would repeat forever. I was extremely surprised after beating World 8 and discovering that the princess was actually there and the game actually ended.

Console: Adventure (Atari2600). Of course played other Atari games, but this was the first one I remember with an actual "finish".
PC: Wizardry 1. I remember the first batch of PC games I got when my family invested in this new "home computer" thing. Some classics like Ultima 1, Zork 1, and of course Wizardry. Ultima and Zork were too hard for me (life was tough before the days of the internet for easy walkthrough access). But I did Wizardry all on my own. I still remember my heart pounding when I finally got to the final door to Werdna's lair, and the sign read "The Wizard is IN".

Super Mario Bros on the NES, first videogame system I had.
Don't think I ever beat any of the Commadore games when I was younger than that, damn you Jet Set Willy.

Yeah, I don't think I "beat" a game until Super Mario Bros for the NES.
I did have one night playing Defender on my Atari 2600 that I feel into almost a Zen-like trance and Could. Not. Die. I was playing for hours, I had more super bombs than I'd ever had before and I was completely not dying. I assume you couldn't beat that game either, because if you could I would have won that night.

Probably one of the old Mario or Ninja Turtles games. I remember beating the fifth Wanderers of YS for SNES, when I was quite young. That was quite the accomplishment to me.

Another vote for Super Mario Brothers for the NES. I recall the first RPG I ever played and beat was Dragon Warrior I, without instructions or help.

Raiders of the Lost Ark on the 2600 for me too.
A few other memorable firsts:
SMS:Phantasy Star (the dream confrontation before the real finale was a WTF moment)
PC:Half Life (I was simply compelled to finish at any cost!)
Xbox: KOTOR (see above)
GBA: Golden Sun

Super Mario 1 on NES and Contra, but that's probably it. I don't usually get around to beating games. I did beat lotr: the third age for Xbox. That was the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Super Mario Bros. for NES then Tecmo Bowl. Back in the day, you always knew you won because the credits would come on. Now you can access the credits from the title screen on most games.
