What was the meaning of the name Walker in the movie? Ivy's last name was Walker and so was the name of the town.

What do you mean "meaning"?

The reason why the town was named after Walker was because Ivy's dad was the one that had the idea to do the whole town thing. Not to mention he used his fathers fortune to donate to the wildlife perserve so that they wouldn't be bothered.

So as the founder of the town it only makes sense to name it after him.

He was also paying to have Air traffic banned from area to add to the illusion.

Also they couldn't wear red as it could be easily seen from a distance.

I don't necessarily subscribe to this view, but there are some online who say the name "Walker" in the movie represents George Herbert Walker Bush Jr.

Also, the imaginary monsters that scare the villagers and keep them hidden in their homes supposedly symbolize the so-called "terror threat" that Bush is using to scare the citizenry into granting him more and more power in the name of safety.

Also, the colors in the movie (red flowers=danger, yellow cloaks=safe) supposedly represent our "Terror Alert" color chart.

As I said, I don't necessarily believe M. Night had all this in mind when he made the movie, but it is interesting.

Umm, I hate to get all simple and everything, but Ivy was the one that left the Village (on foot, no less)...she was a "walker".

It was M. Night's way of cashing in on the then-budding Chuck Norris fad.
